How can we make a boss fight difficult? Let's try taking away half your HP! What a great idea! xD
>>378706575
>getting hit at all
Literally no excuse. Git fucking good.
>>378706575
>playing the chalice dungeons
Why?
>game gives you a super fast invincible dash cause casualisation
>still can't use it properly
Time to give up vidya and take up knitting
git gud
>>378706575
more like artificial fun
>>378706575
As opposed to real difficulty? Games are artificial m8.
That guy was the hardest one in the game for me, even among all the other chalice bosses. The few times I managed to summon some help they usually died almost immediately on the first lunge.
It's just a shit fight because he has so much HP relative to how small your attack window is, and even at 40 VIT you an be one hit killed.
>>378706575
>Stamina bar higher than HP
oh shit nigga what u doing
He's so late into the game though that you should have gotten gud by the time you reach him.
>>378706575
watchdog of the old lords is ezpz. You shouldn't have even gotten hit by it
>>378706575
Chalice dungeons are garbage in general, only reason they exist is to pad out the game's length.
>>378708182
Considering reading the OP, or at least playing the game yourself and using context clues.
>>378708498
You can reach the ending without even touching them, so they don't really pad out the length. Padding to me implies that the garbage material gets in the way of your progression through the game and artificially extends the amount of time it takes you to complete.
It's not that bad.
I mean, it's 'artificial difficulty' because the only reason this boss is even remotely hard is because of how unforgiving it is. One mistake and you're done for. But all his moves are very easily read and avoided, you just need to fail a few times before you commit them to memory.
Defiled Amygdala is way harder.
>>378708079
Fuck this guy. Must have taken me over 200 tries my first time.
>>378706575
lmaoing at ur lyfe
>>378706575
I remember this one being pretty fun and only mildly challenging.
The only tough bosses for me were Laurentius, Kos, Laurence the first Vicar, and Ludwig.
>>378706575
In older gen games you would die in one hit
>>378706575
They kept the artificial difficulty in optional content that was designed to be bullshit difficult.
That's how you should handle content like this.
>>378706575
with the best fire resist armor and good vit you can survive a charge. i dont think you even need a resist rune
>>378706869
>unironically using git gud as a way to deter any sort of criticism
>>378709347
There's absolutely nothing artificial about the difficulty of chalice dungeons.
At first glance you would think the 50% HP cut is the definition of arbitrary, except every enemy (with the only possible exception being enemy Hunters, I haven't explicitly tested) has had its damage readjusted to keep from OHKOing you.
>>378706575
Stop using words you don't understand you fucking faggot.
>>378706575
Maybe you should become more proficient at videogames my man
Wait till you play DS3 DLC
>You liked Sif didn't you? Well here fight Sif and a legion of smaller wolves
>>378709523
You can literally tack on modifiers to make the experience as masochistic as possible. That's artificial since it's just adjusting numbers.
But there's nothing wrong with that because the loot scales with it, and overall it's good NG+ content.
>>378709908
>That's artificial
Stop.http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FakeDifficulty
>>378706575
Artificial difficulty is grinding xp and/or simple trial and error.
>>378710154
This is a terrible definition.
>>378709523
physical damage is 50%, elemental damage is normal so it's effectively twice as strong due to being at 50% hp
You can always learn to dodge OP
>>378709483
But git gud is exactly you hace to do in a souls game
nobody can explain to you exactly a boss, you gotta get the feel. that's why you need to git gud.
>>378710528
>It's not what I thought it meant therefore this definition is bad!
>>378710154
>tvtropes.org
How about an actual dictionary:
Artificial - made by people, often as a copy of something natural.
In this instance, the "natural" difficulty of a depth 5 dungeon would be the dungeon without any added Rites. Once the player, assumed to be human, chooses to increase the difficulty by adding Rites, one could call that artificial.
Now, obviously though, that's not what OP's trying to describe. But still.
>>378710445
>and/or simple trial and error.
I think "arbitrary" is a better word.
>>378710679
>attacking anything but his head
smdh pham
>>378710923
>smdh pham
I do both, breaking his legs makes it go faster cause you can get dem free hits
>>378710923
You do know that words can have multiple meanings? Maybe you should consult your dictionary again. It's in the sense of the difficulty not being real you retard. There's no such thing as "natural difficulty". Fuck off.
>>378711162
I refuse to attack his legs when cooping because it seems like every time we manage to break all four of his legs, which gives him a couple new moves, one of which is a big leap that's really hard to read and is a guaranteed OHKO.
>>378711245
>It's in the sense of the difficulty not being real
I know, hence >Now, obviously though, that's not what OP's trying to describe
I was merely replying to >>378710154's claim that >>378709908 wasn't describing something artificial In my opinion, he absolutely is.
>you retard
Words can hurt, you know.
>There's no such thing as "natural difficulty"
Of course there is. Don't be argumentative and a dick. Settle down.
Faggot.
>>378711510
>I refuse to attack his legs when cooping because it seems like every time we manage to break all four of his legs, which gives him a couple new moves, one of which is a big leap that's really hard to read and is a guaranteed OHKO.
You mean this?
>>378711607
Yeah, that.
>Nice hitboxes, From
I guess it only covers his maw/front legs.
>>378711510
>I was merely replying to >>378710154 (You)'s claim that >>378709908 wasn't describing something artificial In my opinion, he absolutely is.
Fair enough. I understood it as him claiming it is artificial difficulty which it is not. If he did actually mean what you are implying then it was a poor choice of words on his part.
>Words can hurt, you know.
I'm sorry anon. I can understand what you mean now, but I'm not actually convinced that's what he was trying to say. Especially because I got an ignorant reply like >>378710528.
>>378708974
I agree, the watchdog might have given me more trouble at the time, but amy made me rage the most since the original was piss-easy. I must have died about 20 times before I just gave up for the night. The next day I started up the game and beat her in one go with 3 vials. Shit made me so excited.
>>378711721
I've survived it a few times when doing co-op. It's also one of the few bosses where rolling has been super effective in my opinion.
>>378706575
>Hotdog
>Not Defiled Amy
Do yourself a favor and just quit while your anus is in one piece then you fucking dirty casual
>>378712438
Amy's easy too at the end of the day.
In fact I think I'd say Hotdog's actually harder.

Exactly, I actually have a lot of fun with the multiplayer feature of the chalice dungeons

And don't give me that shitty prepare to dine anime game, looks like ass.
>>378713930
Are those the reverse thrown molotovs? Are they good? Never used them, look pretty fast.
>>378714153
yeah, they're rope molotovs, I've never used them effectively but I guess in theory they could be useful. That situation was funny because it was an npc and the AI was broken.
