I agree with this as well. I waited about 9 years, and I lost interest in Kirby completely during 2 of them. Once I finally got RtDL I thought it was disappointing at first but it grew on me very slowly. I honestly wish having MK, DDD, and Bandana Dee wasn't a thing. Robobot was the only one that used RtDL's formula consistently well, with Triple Deluxe being okay, and RtDL being lackluster. What we have now certainly isn't bad though.

The three former games actually controlled well and all had notably different game structures. Even then, NiDL is probably weaker than Adventure, and Squeak Squad is easily one of, if not the, weakest non-spin-off titles.

The recent games all use literally the same structure, so it makes sense there'd be some fatigue especially since they're still "current", regardless of their quality. Even then I'd only say Robobot is actually really good, sadly it has being the peak of the fatigue holding it back for some people. RtDL in general is pretty just okay and TD while really good in some parts has some missteps elsewhere. And personally I don't like how they feel to control, they want to be snappy like Super Star, but can't quite make it work in 3D.

Really wish they had done more with Dark Star. It's so simple and repetitive, I wish they had done something with the instrumentation to make it more interesting. But instead, we get a bunch of different synths.

The thing is though there's a lot of work that goes into making abilities, especially in the Super Star style where they want every ability to be fun to use with a wide varied moveset. If you wanna just have a shit ton of standard abilities, eventually it's gonna cause issues with the variety of enemies too and logically placing them throughout the worlds. I've been playing return for the first time the last few days and the few things I can't agree with was how the power spheres were handled and the idea of extra mode.

With the paths to the spheres, I'm constantly jumping between power-ups, barely holding one for more than two rooms at most. I can't enjoy some powers because of the itching feeling that I'll miss something.

I'm still in the middle of extra mode, but I'm not all for "replay the game, but with less health." Especially when alternative characters were a thing before when it came to repeat playthroughs.
