Regardless if there's any actual substance or link between Death Stranding and his old Konami projects I do believe Kojima did utilize MGS and Silent Hills to help fuel his hype. He may have taken some of his ideas he wanted to use in Silent Hills and carry it over to his new project and allowed any similarities to build up speculation and hype. There is a ruse cruise no matter the outcome.
