CC is an okay JRPG and a terrible Chrono sequel. You'll just have to live with that.

The reason why chrono cross makes people so mad is because it took the series to another level, one that many folks weren't able to get their head around.

For example, consider chess. Someone might love playing chess, but what happens if the game becomes 3-dimensional chess instead? Suddenly you lose a lot of people who can't really keep up. Trigger was great for the masses, but they had a bit more trouble with Cross.
