I fucking hate how stale these developers have become with the platform-fighting genre. PSAS wasn't great but at least it tired something other than straight up ripping off Smash i.e. Rivals of Aether and Wavedash whatever they're making.

The problem with Melee is that its outdated and many players are just bored of the game. At this point, platform fighters have basically become a genre like fighting games. You don't see people complaining about

Despite the fact that every fighting game is basically a clone of Street Fighter 2 at its core. Wavedash will be more modernized removing things like L-canceling and likely adding stuff thats missing in melee like ranked modes and online play.

Another platform fighter could be cool and more could be added along the way like airdashing and shit from 2D fighters. Problem is, melee players and streamboars don't seem to want anything but melee to happen.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, from their word and what I've heard from everyone that I've heard about playing it, people seem to really like the game so far. The only real issues are the character designs doesn't seem to be good enough for most at the moment (Raymer actually being an exception to that so far) and that nobody knows about this game at all.
