that's a big owl
Greatest metroidvania of all time?
>tfw a sequel/follow-up is likely to be announced at E3if my presumptions turn out correct
>>378674651
>no boss fights
Absolutely not. Try Hollow Knight and you're at least getting closer.
>>378674887
>Scorpio exclusive
Wait for it.
>>378675151One of my presumptions is that it might be W10/Scorpio exclusive

kuro did nothing wrong
>>378676147
Literally just trying to raise her kids and some faggot tree didn't bother to be considerate and turn off the lights
>>378676147
Well she did go on a genocidal rampage and nearly ruined everything, but I think we can all easily look past that
>>378676147
The cutscene that explained why Kuro went batshit was gut wrenching
>>378676725
>batshit

>Before Ori was released, developer Moon Studios had been working on another project. Code named “Warsoup,” the game was described by Moon Studios as a mix of Starcraft II and Halo, and should it be revived, looks like it would make much better use of Project Scorpio.
>>378677776
It's like two things I don't like in one.
>>378674887
I want it so much.
I feel like platforming is a little "slippery" In ori. But overall, great game and a visual treat
>>378674651
Lack of boss fights kills it
>>378677776
That was canned years before Ori came out, allegedly because they realized how oversaturated the multiplayer shooter market was at the time (and still is)
I doubt Microsoft would want them to work on something risky like that when Ori 2: Electric Boogaloo would be a much safer investmentbut Microsoft only seems to be making bad decisions, so who knows
>>378678646
It makes sense narratively though.
>>378675042
>>378678646
The escape sequences are effectively bossfights since the game is primarily a platformer and not really combat-driven
>>378674192
>Is a bad mother
Does Ori have one of the best soundtracks ever?
>>378680621
It's definitely goodand well used in the chase sequences.
>>378680920
Yeah the escape from Ginso Tree sequence stood out to me.
The music really made me care about the game more.
>>378680621
What's the best track andwhy is it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwN1MEjUeGk
>>378681531
They're all pretty good.
I know it's the popular one but Light of Nibel is a legitimately good theme.
>>378681652
>I know it's the popular one but Light of Nibel is a legitimately good theme.
Picking that one is practically cheating since it's just the main theme/motif amped up to eleven, you god damn philistine
>>378682360
Liking something that's good isn't bad.
If you want my favourite underrated track it's probably Naru, Embracing the Light.

It's really cute, and despite being short has a lot of emotion packed in.
>>378682542
STOP LIKING GOOD THINGS
ori is a great example of how much a soundtrack can influence a game. Art as well.
Without the art and soundtrack, it would be distinctly average. They're so good that they elevate it. It's gorgeous in motion and has a lot of heart from that alone.
>>378681531
>not https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVaITrUgoP4
>>378675042
That game is a 5/10 while Ori is 8/10 tho
>>378682771
I get the point you're making, but would you really have found the controls, platforming, pacing, etc. to just be distinctly average if it didn't have the visuals/audio backing it? Maybe I'm just a fucking madman, but I don't think the presentation is the only part of the game that had love and care put into it
>>378683582
ur a 5/10
>>378683637
I'm not saying it's bad per sé, I just don't really play metroidvanias much as they're not something I'm into. I wouldn't have bothered with this if it didn't have the atmosphere.
Honestly I think I value atmosphere a lot more than other aspects in a game. I know it's impossible to gauge properly, but you just know when a game is something that clicks.
It's like Rayman Origins. I don't like platformers much, but that one really got under my skin.
>>378683637
>>378683881
Oh yeah, I should say that I was ready to ragequit the game on the escape from ginso tree part, and I probably would have it wasn't for the music and visuals.

Mine is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuI-4REKqtA and it's simply because that's the only music to soothe me from finishing my first One Life run.
It did very well in giving me back my composure to finish that run.
>>378674651
My favourite recent one is probably Valdis Story.
>>378675042
Hollow Knight is a 9 until you kill the first Dreamer, after which point it drops to a solid 6.5. The fact that they weren't bosses and had hardly any character really got to me for some reason.
