There are a few settings that return, but it is much different from the rest of the series.

Felicia day was easily the worst part of it, but honestly it was a great return. I was thinking the worst but it won me over quickly. I hope season 2 features a bit more sci-fi, and maybe even changes up the intro episode to episode. I also hated the cameos as there was much to them beyond "stand there, read prompter." The robots may not be on-par with Murphy or Corbett, but they work.

Trails games are heavily reliant upon equipment. 100 extra STR points could mean the difference between "walk in the park" and "living nightmare". Also, make sure you have the best orbments equipped. Joshua's crafts and Time arts should carry you through the whole game.

There's plenty of reason though. The bulk of Freesia's complexity came from it having small enclosed stages with lots of ledges and the juggling / slamming mechanics tied to that. Sakuna doesn't have that level design going for it and the trailer doesn't show shit of the combat.

I'm guessing Sakuna's got a Metroid-ish world structure and progression, but we haven't seen enough of that yet and we don't know if it's going to focus more on traversal/secrets. Seems like there's good enemy variety and bosses, so we just need to see more of combat. Tom @ XSEED might have more to say around E3 since this seems like the kind of game he'd translate quick. Well here's the thing about that. Sadly, if Xseed doesn't do it, then nobody else will do it either. Trails never really had a chance in the west at all until Xseed took it on because the games require so much work and don't bring in a ton of money for the work they take. Most companies would rather publish easier games that might bring in the same or maybe more sales for much less effort.

Basically if Xseed doesn't bring over Crossbell then the dream is dead because nobody else will do it either. So we have to hope they do.

Don't expect Zero to be announced. You'll be getting Zwei instead.

On a non-trolling note, reading the big localisation post again, I noted something odd. When Carpe Fulgur were working on SC, SpaceDrake told XSEED they needed to make a series bible for a story of the scale, and XSEED disagreed and said anything they wanted to check could just be referenced against FC, which led to consistency issues in Carpe Fulgur's script. Then after Carpe Fulgur's abandoning the project Hatsuu started talking about how she made a series bible and how it was such a great idea. Seems like a shitty move on XSEED's part.

Sure, there's a lot of politics and drama, but it's also a series about kids fighting monsters in high school uniforms. The biggest problem Falcom faces is their small size and focus on efficiency, making them more vulnerable to cash-cropping one IP (while putting others in limbo) and landing them in trouble if that tentpole series begins to fail. Back around 2009 they had a healthy variety of projects, but after 2012 it's clear they've been playing things safe and struggling to keep up with production scale for both Kiseki and Ys. Stuff like fishing, minigames, and bonding events inflates the features lists for their games in a way that presents tangible value Japanese players can expect to match how much they're about to pay for a physical copy. Ultimately, less of their old audience still buys and gives feedback on their games, but it's not like the new audience can't age and expect better in terms of writing, challenge, and delivering on promises.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sen III diverges from its prequels in surprising ways because it's the third game in its arc, fans have gotten older and would like more satisfaction in a playing session (however short), and the developers are tired of kicking the can down the road.

Steamspy has FC owners at almost 300,000, and SC owners at over 40,000. That's just steamspy estimates, by the way, it doesn't include GOG which is where they spent the most time on the top sellers list.

3rd in particular was up there on GOG for quite a while, and it looks like it will end up selling just as much as SC in the same length of time.

How were you right? It's not nostalgia because Sky is actually better, it has a better cast, better music and a better story. I'd say the combat is better as well, it's a bit slower but there's more strategy than s-craft spam and delaying everybody.
