Non-Sonic characters in 2D Sonic games are almost always just Sonic except with one unique ability, but Amy was actually different and interesting instead, and it worked out well and she was fun to play.

I'm not >>378670558, but here's my explanation. 2D Sonic started off with one fundemental, curling up into a ball. The Advance games had physics and gameplay loyal to the Classic versions, though with some differences in the levels, more bottomless pits, added grinding on rails, hoops, etc. So to play as a character that doesn't have a Spin Dash because it's a hard mode is fine. But taking away the Spin Attack, and no longer being able to bounce off of enemies, changes the game immensely. You can even see in Advance 1 that springs and other stuff are added specifically to accommodate her, which screams questionable design.

Amusingly she absolutely devastated bosses thanks to her quirks, like the Ice Mountain boss's drowning threat being rendered moot by her superjumps and her hammer attacks being able to reach him easily.

People are SICK of Green Hill Zone being shoved in every single game. Especially when it was once a special surprise to find it in the game, usually unlockable, or just little tidbits of Green Hill Zone in brand new zones to create a feeling of warm familiarity.
At LEAST in Mania it's been changed so much that it's an entirely new experience. And it's clear it honors the spirit of Green Hill Zone in everything that it expands upon

It was like that in Sonic 1 because of system/space limitations. But in Sonic 4 it's like that because of not giving a fuck, it wasn't even animated originally until people complained about it.

I mean, you can't really fault Sonic Team; they're literally following the original Sonic design documents and so forth for the pudgy Classic Sonic. Most people generally prefer the Toei/CD Sonic since his leaner design compliments his spines and expressions better, but there's still worth in the pudgy classic.

It's just because it's Sonic Team they use him in the safest way possible so he seems boring and overused now.

I'm surprised that for all the model mods for Generations, there was never a mod to slim him down to resemble CD Sonic more.

It's also like a natural evolution to his design that shows him at his aesthetic peak if you ask me. He looks so energetic that it looks like he's ready for action even if he's just standing still.
The one in Generations is actually slightly more babyified from the official art of the original pre-Toei design.
So it's like they're just ignoring a ton of development Sonic underwent and regressing him to a toddler state
he does look adorable, but it's a far cry from the original Sonic's attitude and cockiness

I just dont see a single thing forces has. The graphics look terrible, the same cookie cutter baby designs from lost world with and it looks worse than 7th gen sonic games, the music so far sounds like the shitty anime music from runners, classic sonic is back, modern sonic has wisps. The only thing thats actually surprised me from it is the custom hero
