A new minecraft version is going to be released in the 2nd of June.

It has 48 new blocks, tamable parrots,
an ingame crafting recipe guide and colored beds.

Is it worth?
>>
>>378643827
Why does anyone need an ingame crafting recipe guide? Nobody ever needed it before, except maybe for the console and pocket versions.
>>
>>378643827
minecrap still going?

wont it just die already
>>
>>378643827
If one of said blocks isn't the brown brick, I'm gonna be dissapointed.
>>
>>378643827
This game is getting too fucking bloated.
>>
Those blocks dont fit minecraft at all
>>
>>378644065
There are brown beds. It's the second most fun you can have in an app.
>>
>>378644134
There was a complete revamp of the in-game colors to make them look more saturated. so those blocks fit better
>>
>48 new blocks

oh fuck no. There are already way too many filler block types that hog inventory space, I don't want any fucking more of them.
>>
>in game crafting guide
Game ruined
>>
What is the point, of Minecraft?
>>
>>378644247
The new blocks are all made through crafting, you don't have to ever make them if you don't want to
>>
Cheapest update ever. Why do they spend so many months just to add a few new textures?
Mojang are literally the laziest studio ever.

The coolest thing with this is the parrot, but it isn't that awesome either.

>friends want to play minecraft
>things are fun for a while
>advance up to iron-tier items
>get a couple diamonds
>game gets boring and we stop playing
This happens at least twice a year.
Some new blocks and a bird will not fix this.

This is why Resource Packs are a thing

This happens with my friend group too, I suggest you play with mods cuz vanilla is crap anyway
>>
>>378644376
The color revamp wasn't because of the new blocks tho.

I guess the devs just felt like the colors in minecraft aren't saturated enough
>>
>>378643827
1.7.10 was the peak. The game had been dead since then
>>
>>378644318
1.9 was the last really big update. Updates used to be a huge event and really cool, but they've just gotten smaller and faster of late. Jewcrosoft might have something to do with it, but it's clear the Mojang Team isn't what it once was.
>>
>>378644320
>he doesn't have diamonds within 30 minutes
The fuck are you doing.
>>
>>378644513
I absolutely disagree.
1.8 and 1.9 were really good too

What mods would you recommend that actually make Minecraft fun for longer than a few hours?
>>
>>378643986
You're right that in terms of the internet existing, nobody really needs a crafting recipe because you can easily just look everything up.

In terms of the in-game experience though, it's practically impossible to discover how to craft anything, as there's zero guidance or clues whatsoever. I don't know the details of the recipe guide, but if it's a fast reference or some kind of guide, that'll make the in-game experience better to me.

I always thought the game needed something to help players discover how to craft things. The crafting system actually has puzzle-like elements to it, considering you have to set things up in a certain pattern.

Plus, you know, not everyone has access to the internet at all times.

I think there were some rumours that mojang got really angry at Notch because they were sold, so they decided to replace all code written by him with their own code, wasting all their effort on things that literally don't matter at all?

They probably don't care about the game either, and have no ideas for what to do.
>>
>>378644320
Me and my friends play minecraft like twice a year, and instead of young survival we build cities and villages and shit in creative on a map my friend made in a worldbuilding program so we had interesting environments
It's pretty fun, but mainly because we're all creative builder types or some shit. Feels like playing with legos as a kid again.
>>
>>378644719
modded minecraft will be the same but instead of getting bored at iron tier gear you'll get bored halfway through the mod progression
at least it'll last a while longer than normal and you'll experience some new content though

1.5.2 actually

>>378644527
No they only did "long update" paradigm for a few updates.

>>378644596
1.8.9 was crap, they murdered performance while adding a single new feature. Thank god they've cut down on garbage production since then.

>>378644805
No they made it "industry standard" ie crap
>>
>>378644884
what's the graph supposed to be, annual profit or something?
>>
>>378644978
Google Trends, sheer number of people searching for Minecraft related terms. In % of peak. So half as many people as peak are playing it now roughly.
>>
>>378643986
You didn't have to check the wiki for every other thing you wanted to craft/do? Mojang is trying to make the game more accessible to new players by putting wiki info in the game itself. And as a result of this if anyone is ever stuck with no internet and a copy of Minecraft they won't be stuck trying every combination of blocks in the grid just to make something.

As a side effect of this as well, there's now vanilla support for custom crafting recipes and the ability to lock/unlock new recipes via commands. That's a really awesome feature for mapmakers. An example of how this could be used in an adventure: You kill a custom boss and unlock the crafting recipe for say a key or item that allows you to progress. Or on a server the owner could have a custom recipe to craft mob spawners without needing plugins.
>>
>>378644884
>tfw were playing Infiniminer back when it was released and disliked the "building" servers where no one actually mined the resources and just mindlessly build the forts
>>
I don't get why people hate minecraft. It's a perfect game for children. Kerbal Space Program too by the way.
>>
>>378644719
Old Better Than Wolves used to be really good. But for a long time it has gone in a really bad direction, and is pretty much unplayable nowadays. So you'd need to be able to dig up an old version, which could be difficult. I think the version that added pottery should be fine, it was a while not that long after that that it started to turn bad.

>>378645071
>Mojang is trying to make the game more accessible

>Friend group starts up modded minecraft
>Starts with almost everyone playing for the first few days
>Lots of fun for everyone
>Experiencing new content and exploring new worldgen
>Being amazed by TECHNOLOGY when holding a torch produces dynamic lighting
>Set up autismo food farms so people stop starving next to beds
>Settle down and start building bases
>Pull off one or two hilarious pranks like putting a radio under someone's house on a 4 hour timer that plays loud nigra at 500% volume
>Inevitably though, people start dropping like flies until it's just me and another pal
>We play for a while but it's not as fun with just the two of us
>Drop it after about 2 weeks
>Repeat ~9 months later

I don't know what it is with my group but they just can't maintain interest in modded minecrap. Maybe they're just not autistic enough. I think about joining servers quite frequently but that's kind of a crapshoot, isn't it?
>>

All they do is pick cotton, why the fuck would I make them beds?
>>
>>378645394
My guess if it had an actual natural end-goal that involved all the mod progression (like rocket in Factorio) then you could have at least tried to strive for that, but once everyone goes through most of the content people get bored fast. Killing bosses and getting high tech resources is fun and all, but you constantly need to set new goals for yourself, which gets stale after a while.

Nope. vanilla minecraft is going to have parrots and you can actually tame them.

They also copy voices of monsters around them, like actual parrots. oh, and they can sit on your shoulder if you tamed them
