Understand that it is a moba.

Setting up zarya ult + ana ult + genji ult is more important then any amount of first person shooting you can do.

If you aren't comboing your ults together, you are wasting them.

You also need to learn about when to run into a fight vs when not to. The general strategy for all overwatch encounters is to play extremely defensively until someone manages to steal a kill, aka pick off one of the enemy team members, aka "get a pick". This is the optimal moment for your team to rush in and fight 6v5 while the player who got picked is respawning.

Don't forget to protect your team. Regardless of what role you are, it is YOUR job to make sure your genji doesn't get fucked up by the mei/symmetra/zarya. It is YOUR job to make sure your zenyatta doesn't get fucked up by the enemy team's genji, etc. Enemy sounds are like 8x louder then the sounds of people on your own team, so if you hear someone moving around it means you need to pay attention and deal with the flanker.

Lastly, always make sure your team is comprised of two tanks, two healers, and two damage dealers. This provides the optimal combination of killing power and survivability.

Since this game is 99% strategy and 1% skill, there's no harm in looking up guides on youtube.

Play at least one hero from each category, don't be that guy that can only do one thing. Most heroes aren't even that complicated so there's no excuse not to learn a handful.

Save your ults for good moments, don't just blow them off just because you have them unless you'll switch heroes soon. Try to combine them with teammates as well. For example; Zarya's or Mei's ultimates combine well with Hanzo's.

Well for barely playing the game i shouldnt be in the top 5 to 10% of the playerbase.
