Gwent: the Standalone alone is actually heavily reworked Gwent from Witcher 3, though. It's thew same gist of "have more points than your opponent ot win the round", but they've expended pretty much every aspect of the game otherwise.

I think that's actually why Gwent stands out for me - it's not just trying to take on Hearthstone and other card games at their own games. Can someone tell me the basic strategy of a Northern Realms deck? So far, it seems like Skellige is discard to damage and then transform when units are low enough. Nilfgaard seems like playing upside down cards and draw for hand advantages. Monster deck seems like spawn rush and sacrificing units to buff others. What's the gimmick in a NR deck? So far, it seems the most basic of the bunch.

It really depends on what you call a "card game". Gwent is not comparable to HS or MtG, it's a completely different game with different mechanic that rips off a couple of more obscure tabletops that CPDR devs liked. And it sure feels more like a tabletop game to me than HS.

So how's gwent? Is it decent f2p and at least not a chore to play? Shadowverse is fucking killing me with these 2-4 hour dailies and even budget meme decks to have actual fun with are expensive as dicks becuase there's so many core golds and legos now if you don't want to get curb stomped purely by the powercreep that's probably going to hit full gold/legendary lists in 6 months.

Basically, you can get 2-3 kegs per day in around an hour and a half of playtime, each keg is 5 cards, usually bronzes, sometimes silvers and golds. Your deck is composed mostly of bronzes so it's easy to have a really decent deck and craft the silver gold you need.

Also dragon reliably hits 10pp on turn 6/7 now so they don't even have to nut draw to just bash you retarded with their 15+ lego wallet. The TotG meta is cancer incarnate and it's reached the point where off-meta decks, and especially board focused decks, are flat dead outside of c/b rank against non-sandbagger newbies. Past that demilitarized zone it's all solid netdeck lists so once you identify which deck it is, you know within 80% what card is gonna be fucking you in the ass every turn. Also thanks to the insane powercreep of the RoB then the TotG cards, you can't really recover a game anymore. Don't have a solid play in the mid/late game or multiple early turns and you may as well smash dat mf concede button. I don't remember the numbers but dragon and shadow together made up like 60% of the decks played with a combined 60% winrate even with dumb bandwagon shitters included. actually skilled players were pulling 70-80% winrates for months. P.S. Dragon and haven have roughly 50hp on top of constant DELETDELETDELETDELETDELET so you can't face them and you physically cannot have enough burn to kill them. It's just miserable.

Nerfs did nothing but shake the dumb bandwagoners off since they have no idea how to adjust to a slap on the wrist if their life depended on it

Shadowverse posters last year used to make fun of hearthstone's curve-based gameplay, but I always felt like the developpers wanted shadowverse to be more like that, and RoR solidified that feeling. A lot of factions were already just slam whatever your on curve drop is, and pray your draws are more consistent than your opponent's.

They printed grimnir, 3pp 2/3 (enhance [10]: deal 1 damage to all enemies 4 times) Any deck which isn't aggro or aggro "midrange" runs bahamut and grimnir so if you can't kill them by turn 10 you're just gonna get assblasted to pieces. Many aggro and midrange decks run him too since it's often the only 3pp 2/3 ward they can take and if they gas out against a deck trying to stall them, the 4 burn from the enhance effect will usually end it. Seraph decks became aegis decks which can't be destroyed by anything so on top of getting more banished they can just bahamut/themis/grimnir themselves then aegis you in the face for 8 every turn if you're not some aggro cancer that can kill despite getting board cleared nearly every turn. It's just sick to get solitaire'd over and over.
