What I find most damning is the fact that those Kirby models are almost certainly from RTD and made high quality, but Mario's model is very clearly that of the 3Ds. The inconsistency is boggling, and while the rest of the remodeling is impressive I can't believe Sakurai would actually re-use 3Ds models (albeit upscaled) and try to have them fit in with other higher quality models

I mean, there's a ton of re-used models in all Smash games, it's no big surprise. There is a certain amount of sense to using the 3DS models, though. They are designed with portability in mind. Keeping those clearer shapes more distinct would be a lot easier when upscaling to the TV than taking the more detailed, noisy models and scaling them down to the Switch's screen. All you'd need is the outline shader when in portable mode and you're set.

I like to think about it like this:

If someone "leaks" anything from the game, they almost always add characters that a majority of the fanbase wants. These leaks are almost always proven to be bullshit since it's either a shitty Photoshop or, as was proven with the Rayman leak, a really well done fake. Hence why we need video proof.

With these pics, then the amount of effort to sucker people is reduced drastically: by showing people stuff they already know is in the game and tweaking it slightly, then it becomes slightly more believable.
