The western speedrun community is biggest in english, french, and german languages. When GDQ was hust starting out, the french community had this really cool guy who restreamed the event and provided translation and commentary for like 12 hours a day in peak Euro hours, so french donators would start in english, and then shoutout the french restream/translator guy or make a joke from the french commentary to show they were french. German community didnt have any restreams so they just had to add "btw im germany" because there was no good transiton. Eventually it became a meme.

Longest run I ever watched was 6,5 hours of Paper Mario TTYD. That one had good commentary from lots of people. I hope that 8 hour run does as well.

12x 15 minute games with 10 good runners is still a shitty 6 hour block of half runs and half intermissions. Bad runners make every run bad no matter what. The best runs for marathons are always on the 1:30-2:30 range, imo, becayse it gives you enough time to get used to a good, funny runner.
