The whole "ded gaem" thing is just a dumb meme. SC2 is by far the most active RTS there is. Pic related, this from the EU server right now and it's 13:00 on a weekday and there are at least ~7750 people online (you get removed from chat channels when you join a game). Sure it's tiny compared to assfaggots or other big games, but still far bigger than other RTS games.

Its so strange that it was such a terrible game like this. They have loads of experience, why couldnt they make it good? How come not a single lorefag in their team stood up to point out the mistakes? Why did not a single visual artist stand up at some point and point at readibility issues and the general missmatch between visuals and story? Why didnt anymore in the gameplay department point out some obvious game flaws they already resolved in previous titles? Getting into SCII starting as a complete scrub is going to be a massive time commitment unless you're some kind of prodigy. Simply playing the game will only get you so far, if you really want to give it an honest go, you will have to start looking up builds. You need to familiarize yourself with the various hotkey shortcuts for buildings, units and commands. You need to know what kind of units you can afford to build off of one base or two bases and so on. That's not even getting started on familiarizing yourself with the build orders and strategic timings of the races you might be playing against. I went hard in the paint back in 2010 when WoL released and worked my way from Bronze to Diamond over the course of season 1 and 2 of ladder. I played over 3000 games of SCII in that time, it was my life in every sense of the word. I don't have that kind of free time anymore and I burned out hard after season 2 ended.

What I'm getting at is that you can most definitely overcome your problems with that game if you put your mind to and spend more than a few hours playing the game. You probably won't get Grandmaster, but you should at least make an effort to get out of Bronze.

SEA doesn't even report numbers. KR has 5k people in chats thought. It seems like the games played is global and the people in channels differs per server.

It's more than 15k, because those stats don't account for the people who aren't in channels and not all of those games being played are 1v1s. Probably more in the 20-25k range.

RTS's aren't that fun for me in multiplayer, sadly the campaign isn't enough to keep me playing this game for more than about 20 hours so there's nothing to do until they release an expansion.
