I really hope they keep making echoes style remakes. This remake is almost too good for a game like gaiden. I'm honestly kinda jealous as an SNES fan this got such a great remake with these production values.

10/10 character redesigns, updated script is great, animated cutscnes, great OST, the character models are greatly improved over fates/awakening, it kept what made the game unique while modernizing the things that needed modernization (honestly I still think it'd be a better game with the weapon triangle but hey at least the western release only fans finally get to see what it's like without it.) I almost think Nintendo couldn't pull off another remake this good

I miss branching promotion paths and reclassing though, without much choice in what direction or function to develop your units for the game feels like it's lacking a layer of the strategy element. That said I liked having 4 villagers on Alm's side, it made up for the hole a litle bit.

It's not really, the mooks in there are sub-100 rating so as long as you've promoted it shouldn't be too bad, getting the orb just involves a lot of running around and grinding because you need 12 of each astrological shard and a black pearl and the NPC at the entrance will make it for you. Getting shards isn't exactly rare you'll probably get 2 or 3 each run but by the time you have one of each of the 12 you'll probably also have like 2-5 of the other 11.

I absolutey love this game. Just finished chapter 5 and am in Thebes right now but I died to an all dragon fuck you team on floor 9 and lost all that progress. I am deeply saddened that there isn't a lunatic mode though, kinda makes me not want to start a new file.

The game has a good story and decent characters, but I'm not a big fan of the maps, not being able to pair units, and lack of an S on support. As well as not as easily picking and choosing classes for individual characters.

I only just finished Act 2 though, maybe it'll get a little better.
