This is a game, not real life. What matters is that they preserve how the game was before. In the remake there's too much light and the water is too visible.
Likewise for the Tomb Wader level. The new water looks more realistic? Great, that means fuck all. It's harder to see when it's too low, and when it rises higher it looks flat and crappy. It doesn't fit the cartoony style of the game and gameplay-wise it's more annoying.
