I think they help to sell game, however for the effect to work there's a minimum quality standard. The game actually has to be vaguely interesting. E.g. Five Nights is listed as having close to a million sales on SteamDB. More recently My Summer Car is sitting on 215k. Ecelebs raise awareness but only raise sales so long as the viewers actually want to try the game themselves and Sophie's Curse is clearly really low level amateur shit.

t.Sophie's Curse dev. It would help sell the game if it wasn't a short and shallow experience that people could get all of by watching someone play it
