It can be a bit annoying. Everything's so big and in the way. It's not bad design though since it was an intentional stylistic choice they made which goes along with other things in the game like the music, the teenage rebellion theme, and so on.

The big size and artistic flair doesn't really detract from it. They are using a dedicated screen for what is actually relatively little information and very limited interaction, so they've got room to add embellishments. And the seemingly disjoint shapes and color schemes have a kind of common motif with the rest of the UI. Not that you see it in single frame images.

You just get used to it anon. At the start it was overwhelming then it eventually just settled in. Everything is still located wherever you expect it to be, and It fits the game's mood perfectly; I don't see anything wrong with it.
