Well, they probably wouldn't be if the Wii U and Xbone didn't shoot themselves in the foot. PS4 won by default, just by being somewhat acceptable. There's still quite a bit that needs improved (I have yet to understand the point of the LED light on the controller, and the store and home screen is just horrible, for example), but it wasn't as bad as being forced to by a camera and stating that your games would always be online, or releasing a console with zero 3rd party support.

Only thing that is improving on the Scorpio is the resolution, as per an interview given shortly after the announcement.

Not who you are responding to, but I used the PS3's XMB myself, and only experienced the NXE/2.0 and Metro via friends' consoles.

Obviously, I can't speak to the blades, but the issue I had with the NXE and Metro was that it was insanely hard to figure out where shit was. If you handed someone a PS controller who had never seen or interacted with the PS3 before, they could figure out the relative location of absolutely everything on the XMB in about 3 minutes. Having spent 20 minutes on the NXE and Metro, I was STILL looking for the same initial thing I was looking for, which still doesn't account for a bunch of other shit that I would look for in the future.

That was my problem with the 360. Zero experience in Xbox One's menu, so I can't speak to that, either.

All of them had a slight learning curve to it. XMB is the only one that is self explanatory right away and that's why it's so GOAT, including PSP before it got infested with random shit like comics and video services (which you can disable by putting it into debug region in CFW). I used someone's PS4 before and that shitty menu made even less sense than NXE / Metro.

It makes sense to me, but the design is still god awful. Like, when I wanted to change the system clock, I think it took me a grand total of 3 seconds to find the system settings. Only thing that tripped me up at all was deleting games. That took me a minute or two to figure out (unlike the XMB, where you literally just highlight the game and press triangle).

Wanted to purchase the original NieR's DLC. Couldn't find it on the regular store, so I loaded up the game from the disk, and clicked on Downloadable Content. Original original store opened up, with NieR's DLC being the square with anything on it. Then, out of curiosity, I went to the PS Store's homepage. PS Store loaded up in the classic mode.

Don't know if it still works, though, as I find the app even easier than that.

In my opinion, the launch PS3 is still the best system to ever exist. Playing PS1 and PS2 disks, all the music and video formats that streams from usb, memory pro duo, SD card, or CF card, the online store filled with cheap games from the PS1/SNES era, and the system just looked beautiful.
