If you played this after release and don't have any nostalgia for it you would agree that it doesn't hold up that well. It's an ugly game. The controls aren't great especially the targeting. The combat is shallow. It was a product of its time.

I think it's like Final Fantasy 7. In hindsight ff7 kind of an ugly game and the things that did other games did a lot better. But it came out at the right time and did it's good things well enough to really stick with people now it's beloved forever. At least until the Remake comes and ruins everyone's memory. There are plenty of clues in the game if you aren't a slack-jawed retard and can explore. You'll easily find the first three dungeons just wandering around Hyrule. Finding dungeon 4 is as easy as using the item you found in dungeon 3 and finding dungeons 5, and 6 requires knowledge you can find within the game. 7, 8, and 9 are the most hidden for good reason, but you can still find them with information provided within the game.

If you don't find the idea of exploring a fantasy world and figuring things out for yourself, then maybe Zelda isn't the series for you and video games may not be the hobby for you. Perhaps Dora the Explorer or Blue's Clues would be more your speed.

Two completely different types of game from two completely different ends of gaming history.

ALTTP was a refinement of 2D gameplay, perfected in the 16-Bit era.

OoT was pioneering a whole world in 3D. Although OoT is in many ways very similar to ALTTP story and structure wise, it's very pointless trying to compare the two.
