Civility is all I really require from the average person. I have higher requirements for friendship or a romantic relationship. People being polite or just fucking off is my baseline for acceptable public behaviour and 9/10 people meet that. I hear you, and Trump isn't even the main thing that sets my son off, it's him learning of the fucked up past of this country regarding race relations. It was black history month which stirred his curiosity about it all. He was profoundly hurt to realize what his, mine, and his mother's place in the world would've been 50, 60 years ago. He just couldn't fathom it. Nothing is more beautiful than the innocence and purity of a child.
