They may have a place in the field of prosthetics to replace missing limbs etc. but robo-arms that can lift a car would destroy the organic torso they're attached to. I know that guy said "full body" but honestly enhancement of the existing body with nanomachines seems much more likely than replacing perfectly fine body parts with full prosthetics.

No, I'm already playing way less than I did in my early/mid 20s and that trend will likely continue.
Every once in a while a good game comes out, but there's nothing to keep me playing regularly.
MOBAs and most MMOs are pointless unless you dump hours upon hours into them (time I don't have because of work) and it's pretty much impossible to play them only from time to time.
>>
>>378607209
It kinda is.

I might but mostly depends if I still have an interest.

It's going to be kind of weird in the future when we have 80 year olds playing vidya in nursing homes, but also kinda cool i guess.

Next gen kids will be so spoiled because their parents/grandparents will understand the value of vidya and will probably spoil them with games.

Some people lose interest in video games when they finish college and get a job, but if you go through that and you still play video games, it's probably gonna be a hobby for life. There's not much that could change from there on to make you abandon a major hobby.

It's more of a movie really, but it's still not the same. I'd rather play Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than watch a movie about it, because player input makes me immerse a lot more. And more immersion makes it a better story telling medium, at least for me.

Video games are really good at simulating the feeling of progressing towards a goal, which seems to be a really basic human need. Just think of how much someone is willing to grind in an RPG, or to practice gitting gud at a competitive game. But when you're already doing that with your life, you don't really need it from video games anymore.

At least that's something I've noticed myself. When my life is going to shit, I get really hooked on chasing pointless achievement in video games, but now that I got my life more in order and I have goals that I'm moving towards, I prefer to see video games as a fun experience that I can relax with.

Married anon here.

If your partner understands/respects you or shares the same hobby (which is even better), not much will change within the dynamic of your relationship. My partner and I both play our respective games separately or something together. We're cool with just being in the same room doing our own thing. However, I've honestly been the one to lose interest more. It's not because we got married; I've just fallen into that "don't have time" pit because I handle much of the shopping and stuff around the house on my days off.

What will change though is your social obligations to others. All of the sudden everyone wants to see and spend time with you and saying "nah I'm just gonna stay home and play video games" no longer becomes an acceptable reason to not show up to stuff.

I just want one weekend where I don't have to put pants on. Is that so much to ask?
>>
>>378607106
Not like I have anything else to do.
>>
I don't know what the future holds. I might be homeless with no way vidya to play, I might be dead, I might be a vegetable from failed attempts to kill myself. Or maybe I'll be ok and supporting my lifestyle. You never know what's gonna happen.
>>

>What will change though is your social obligations to others. All of the sudden everyone wants to see and spend time with you and saying "nah I'm just gonna stay home and play video games" no longer becomes an acceptable reason to not show up to stuff.

This is part of the reason I don't seek out relationships anymore and partly because I'm too shy to ask a girl out. Everyday whenever I come home from work I don't want to talk to anyone or go anywhere, I just want to flop down in the cool dark and absorb myself in vidya for about 4 hours. I've been doing it since before and now long after college and I just can't see myself giving free time up to spend time with someone I probably won't care about as much after a year of living together. As I've gotten older there's less and less girls I find myself interested in as well so it could just be autism. I really do love having a shitload of time to invest in vidya and doing whatever I please after work and I don't think I could tolerate life without it.

I don't think I'm going to be able to.
My mom has osteoarthritis or some other degenerative bullshit bone/joint disease, and I'm afraid it is hereditary because I'm 22 and my right hand cracks too much.

You know, going out with friends or visiting relatives or getting dates are some of those stuff that when you're playing vidya and enjoying yourself, you think you don't want it or need it or it's not possible, but when you go out and do it it's actually good and so much easier than what you thought to be impossible.

Stop the vidya when you make plans, or specific dates you know you'll be hanging out, just rest and recharge for social interaction if you're that type of people, it's ok, just adapt a bit

I go motorcycling, do macro photography of bugs, work, play videogames, watch films, read books, shitpost on a Mongolian sweater kitting forum, cook food. These things make me happy and I figure doing whatever makes me happy is the best way to spend my time. I believe trying to attain society's idea of a "full life" is a waste of time if it's not in line with what you truly enjoy doing.

Honed down over a lot of years, Anon. I've tried lots of things in my life and these are the ones that have stuck. If I can offer any advice it is if something seems appealing to you then try it, you might enjoy it enough to invest time and perhaps money in it, you may not. But you'll never know unless you try. Don't worry about failure or embarrassment, both are fleeting and not worth your time dwelling on. If what you are doing makes you happy then what others think of that is wholly irrelevant.
I've done stupid shit, made a fool out of myself, been laughed at, failed utterly and started over again. As I look back over my life none of that bothers me, none of it has made a lasting impression on where I am now.
>>
>>378607106

>>378607106
I do love vidya, when a good one comes along and exceeds my expectations it feels magical every time I like to think I'll continue to get that feeling out of games for the rest of my life, but then again when a game falls short of expectations it can make me wish I'd never picked up a game-boy.

I'm a recovering MGS fan, there's a hole in my heart where MGSV should be but it doesn't fit with what I expected, so I'm just doing my best to fill that void. I've basically been scouring through the entire PC library of games to find a good third/first person shooter with strategic elements but nothing seems to fit.

Someone please end my misery.

Can you be a bit more precise?
>>
>>378607106
Probably, since it's all I know and nothing else motivates me.

When I ever have children and even grandchildren I want to play video games with them.
I am 28 years old and married, but I don't think we will have children within the next two years.

I'm 38 right now, been playing since I was a little kid, and games have been getting better since I started. I don't see any reason to quit.

It will. Retirement villages will be massive LAN parties.
Alas women, like always will try and ban it.

Yes.
The more I grow old the less I will play newer games tho. Am already playing and spending money on retrogame more than last and current gen stuff. I will compulsively retrogame and complain about young people's VR.

why wouldn't I? Interactive entertainment is more fun than passive entertainment like TV and books, and as I get less and less physically able to do things I expect I'll play more hiking simulators to replace irl exploration.

Maybe the robotic arm will have an attachment to let it stick into the ground to take some weight off the body to allow lifting.
>>
>>378607106
Yes, I've been playing for 20+ years already, I don't expect to find a reason to stop.

>deny yourself things you enjoy and make you happy because muh potential future regret
Aren't you afraid you'll regret chopping your own balls off and doing shit you dislike instead of pursuing things which bring you joy?

Yes but the only thing in question is how often/long will I play vidya as compare to now since there might be some factors in aging that affects playing.

Are you me?

Metal Gear Solid was my absolute favourite series of all time, I was so crazy over it.

Then TPP came out and ever since then it's like an illusion has been broken and now I don't even have any interest in even the good MGS games now.

It's like TPP just erased the love I had for the series entirely.
