Truth be told, this game is bringing out the kid in me and so I've conjured some combo attacks for Alm and his homies.

> Lightning Strike -> Where Kliff strikes his blade with lightning as Alm jumps in for the kill. It fails miserably because his armor conducts electricity, which they were both aware of but were only doing it to get Celica's attention before she storms out for being a brat about Alm leading the army

Confuse Warp -> Silque and Faye alternate between Warp and Rescue at high speeds to give the appearance as though Alm is flash step attacking from all different angles against an enemy.

And yes, I now realize I lifted these moves from Chrono Trigger.

Why are the enemy mages so OP in this game? Sure, they all have 60 hit but every time it seems they have 90 hit instead. None of my units have enough res to tank more than 2 of their hits and nearly all of them have 3 range. The summoned necrodragons are easier to deal with than them.

Cleric Faye literally cannot die even when she's standing at the frontline.

Why does Celica's route seem so much easier than Alm's? The most I've ever struggled was that desert stronghold and Sonya's witches, both of which turned rather trivial after learning invoke spam. Even if you don't use that trick, it's not like it's exactly hard even on the hardest.
Meanwhile every single Alm battle feels like I'm crawling through just trying to scrape by.

If feels like the game is either too easy or extreme bullshit.

I was talking more of the non-villagers. The villager units and Silque immidiately kick ass. Mathilda and Lukas are the two Deliverance units that are immediately useful.

Forscyth and Python can be good but need investment. Clive is forever fucked and Gold Knight Clive is somehow worse than Cavalier Mathilda and Knight Forscyth.

And then you get based Zeke and Clive loses any reason to exist.

fwiw, I thought the dreadfighter animations, and to a lesser extent the knight, were well done. everything else just seemed minimalistic though, especially when comparing it to the GBA games.

This is a but unfair since the games went 3D so, so many years ago. I love the GBA animations too, but it's time to stop complaining about that. It has been 7 games since then, that's almost half the series.

Not to mention the 3D has been dramatically improving since the garbage animations of the Tellius and DS games. Fates had godly crits and Echoes has nice overall performance, albeit boring crits.
