At this point i think it's fine if they stick with KH2 depth. I'd rather have KH2 combat with 1-2 gimmicks added like shotlock and flowmotion when it's well balanced than tons of options that give it more depth but potentially ruin the balance

Well I'd like if they removed Sora's magnetic ground-to-air flipping attacks. The way all attacks go toward the lock-on regardless of minor verticality makes mashing far too effective for airborne targets who should be harder to hit. If I want to do a rising attack, I should have to press jump and attack at the same time. I should have to hold the control stick in the direction of the enemy to follow them in my combo string.
I'd also get rid of Leaf Bracer/Second Wind/etc things that turn Cure into the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card. Rid of those abilities and make Cure heal slowly.
I'd also implement light and heavy attacks performed by holding the attack button. Enemies can block. Heavy attacks have big recovery frames but they break enemy guard and instead of following enemies in combos, they knock enemies away, and maybe they can knock away projectiles. Something like that.

I'm most worried about the Keyblade Transformations. On average (not counting Days, ReCOM, Chi, and ReCoded), the main KH games have 20 keyblades. Assuming that each Keyblade has (at least) 2 forms, that's (at least) 40 keyblade transformations. They would either have to go below average or take extra in balancing the large number of transformations, neither of which I feel are happening.

Kingdom Hearts has a very established gameplay style, especially as an action RPG that stems in design from the early 00's by evolving from PS1 JRPGs. The enemies already do telegraphs, it's just your movement options are limited (early game anyway) and force precise dodge rolls or guards instead of easy dodges most action games use.

But.. it does. Sure it's boring at first, but once the game starts throwing more enemies at you, usually things get more intense and thoughtful. Kingdom Hearts 2 refined 1's combat while the Nobodies promptly swept in to take a shit on the average player that thinks hacking and slashing all day will net them a win. I wouldn't even call KH2 gimmicky, seeing as the Action Commands and Drive Forms compliment the gameplay rather than serve as a focus.

Also Flowmotion is being retained for 3. The Fragmentary Passage that is basically a KH3 gameplay testbed demonstrated rather handily that gameplay is still evolving even though they're going back to the KH2 style combat.

valor form gets a special attack initiated with the square button instead of the usual x, which ables you to do a quick break through enemies defenses. valor form, while it doesn't have a block, you can parry enemies by attacking the same time. also high jump and haste

wisdom form has an attack thats incapable of being parried. it also enhances magic greatly, such as firaga in a swift circular motion.

master form has no magic finishers making magic really viable in between combos. tornado finisher is great and also some of his air combos feel as devastating as finishers where you could juggle big enemies

limit form has guard > zantetsuken, and etc

final form has devastating combos, insane magic, and auto-parries weak attacks. if you stop pressing x mid combo he'll do a keyblade clashing finisher.

If there was a trophy for doing it and/or if it was it's own separate difficulty setting (which it basically is), plenty of people would play it. I think the reason most people don't do it is because they see it as this crazy self-imposed challenge that only the most hardcore autismos can complete, when in reality it's just the hardest built-in difficulty setting and the game is balanced extremely well for it.

Exactly, it actually makes the game more balanced by making keyblades the only way to get certain abilities, making it so that it actually matters if you get hit, minimizing synth grinding since it barely makes a difference most of time and making strategies more consistent due to damage scaling, like how 2 reflects and a few hits is always enough to kill a sorcerer, no matter the battle level of the area.

The cutscenes looked great, they definitely improved the lighting by a lot in the last 1-2 months, especailly the Destiny Island scense almost looked like CG.
Gameplay has some issues but they're mostly Aqua related imo like her combo starte and finisher and her walking animation. Other than that if you told me that it was made by Osaka i wouldn't believe you especially Phantom Aqua and they even listened to feedback pretty quickly for the last boss. I'm knida glad taht there're some speedrun autists in the KH community that actually want to make these games better

Once you complete a character's story in BBS your inventory completely resets, so you need to re-fuse all of your deck abilities again. I understand why it would reset, but it just isn't fun. DDD was annoying with it's two concurrent inventories as well. Getting a new deck ability or dream eater then having to equip it on both characters was annoying.

The problem with Flowmotion in Dream Drop Distance is that the worlds you use it in are so fucking boring and empty. Large expansions of nothing but enemy spawns, things to FM off of and treasure chests. While I don't like the clunky platforming of, say, KH1, it transformed into a non-issue for 3D by basically being so simplified in world design and having no one to find or so forth with any real challenge or style.

Hopefully KH3 fixes this and lets Flowmotion shine.

I came up with the idea of him being King Mickey's reclusive brother who at first refuses to aid his brother and allies until he learns just how bad the Organization is, causing him to become an official ally. Also have an idea for one world being a trip to his dank castle that gets overrun by Heartless a la Disney Castle in one.

I dont think ive any point in these games I have thought of the worlds as either empty or full with stuff aside from maybe kh2 which added random weird shit like skateboarding. They were problems in previous games, yes, but 3D pretty much used the "it's all a dream" excuse to not even have NPCs besides two cases and the rare Eater encounters. The result were worlds like Notredame where they have literal filler areas of nothing but large expansions and buildings to jump around on with nothing in sight except a treasure chest or two. Combine that with Flowmotion allowing you to scale any wall in seconds and while exploration feels fast, it also feels hollow since there isn't any depth to the actual exploration, much less secrets to find like Trinity Marks or so forth like earlier games.

I get that it was on the 3DS, but it felt like they pretty much used the plot as an excuse to be able to put low effort into the worlds themselves.
