Pyramid Head is EXCLUSIVE to James. Yes, the portrait has always been there for any to see, but any creature inspired by it would not look so identical as the fucking mask wasn't a literal helmet as the portrait implies and James assumes. Even then, PH being reused was just fucking lazy.

I've always disagreed with the idea that james actually did it as a mercy kill. I was mostly just being an ass when I wrote the "puss" comment, but to me James is much more of a selfish character than he lets on to the rest of the cast, and in turn to the audience. The primary example I give is after James is reminded of the knife by Angela in their final conversation, his immediate response to being accused of "saving it for himself" is "Me? No, I'd never kill myself."
I guess my point is, in a roundabout way, when James says how he just couldn't watch Mary suffer, I think it's just the excuse he tells himself to rationalize her murder in his head.

Feels like a spinoff. It plays like the previous games in some ways, but does other things so differently that you swear it's an entirely different beast.

For example, no flashlight and radio. The latter does sort of appear in the game, but only in one location and isn't really used like the detector that it was in the previous 3 titles.
