Played once in nip and once in english and I'd say JP, because it has more consistency.
The English dub is a huge mixed bag, with some VAs being really good and others being fairly awful or too out of line with the JP dub.
Just off the top of my head I remember Takemi, Chihaya, and Makoto being especially bad in English.

Goro Akechi sounds genuinely creepy and hate ridden in his English version of the fight, also the protag sounds a bit silly in Japanese, when he says "Pillage him, Sataniel" I could not help think that the English just sounded way better, and I am the kinda guy who usually throws a bone more towards subs.

i tried to start ng+ with english and had to restart the moment i heard the party members chatting at the beginning.

Like most Jap games, the Japanese voices overall are better but SOME characters are better in English.

Ryuji is better in English, his English VA actually tried

In anime, the English dubs are the ones that take the title of "dub" because the VAs specifically have to fit pre-existing mouth flaps, but in video games, localization companies might have access to the ability to create their own mouth flaps, so there's less of a difference. Both the Jap and English crew are doing the same thing, so, in that case, you could call either one a dub if you wanted.

Still, it's traditionally only called a dub if it's not in the original language, but that's just a tradition.

I hated Ryuji's JP VA choice because he so often plays goofballs that it's hard to taken any of his chimp out moments seriously.

Sugita as Yusuke was damn near perfect, Mercer did alright.

Joker in ENG felt more smug which I think is real important for his character. Jun wasn't bad by any means though.

I liked both versions of Makoto.

Futaba's EN is a little too deep despite being the babby of the group, I know the ages are a bit closer but it was still weird. I do appreciate that she played her as an actual sperg.

Goro is a stupid fuccboi in all versions but the insanity came through during his bossfight in English.

The text are waaaay different than whatever the JP dub is saying. It creates a dissonance and just ruins immersion. Also voices in the menus and movies aren't even subbed.

God if you don't know Jap and played it with LOCALIZED english text then you're literally stupei as fuck. You ruined the game for yourself by thinking muh all-star VA cast somehow makes it better which it really doesn't.
