Regardless of whether or not it happens around E3, there is more reason for optimism regarding Zero than there is for pessimism. You can only say "never ever" and be proven wrong so many times before people stop believing it.

In this case, I 100% believe and expect it to happen. I can be proven wrong, but so far they've localized every other game. There's no reason not to be optimistic.

I'm pretty sure most of the skepticism stems from realizing that there's a limit to charity. Personally, I can't imagine the 3rd was ever seen by XSEED as a salvageable localization project in terms of profit from the very start. I'd love to be proven wrong about this.

While Crossbell arc can be enjoyed as a standalone two-game series, it looks like tits, has a name reminiscent of tits and therefore they may feel like there's but a single option - to market the game towards those people who played tits. We've learned exactly how big this market is by looking at SC's/3rd's sales.

If they actually take up localizing two more War and Peace-sized games, the latter of which is guaranteed to sell disgustingly bad, after all the horrors they've been through with tits... I just don't know, anon. You'd be able to make a religion out of this.

FC alone likely brought in enough profit to cover the entire cost of localizing all three Sky games, if not more than that - and more seems likely to me. The majority of SC's sales have come at the $30 price point, they haven't gone on sale for anywhere close to what FC has in the past, and obviously the same goes for 3rd, which hasn't even been out a month yet. Even if you assume SC never sales another copy, if you assume they never put it on sale for something like 10 bucks, it's obvious that SC could not possibly have costed them more to localize than it brought in. Then you add in whatever 3rd ends up making, and 3rd was likely the cheapest of them all to do.

You say there's a limit to charity, but I would argue it's not charity at all. Xseed wouldn't have localized 3rd for charity. They did it for profit. Charity was releasing a PSP version of SC. They didn't do that for 3rd.

Zero at the very least is a direct continuation of the 3rd in terms of storyline since it resolves rennes plot. Ao on the other hand is more closely related to cold steel, but both games have audiences in players of the games that have already been brought over.

But considering the time and effort required, the only way I see it happening is by them making a simple internal emulation of the PSP games, purchase the fan translation of zero and start Ao's right away, finishing it right around the end of the year before CSIII can get started. Otherwise, it doesn't seem feasable.

You know, being this young hero who starts weak and then becomes stronk in some natural evolution has been the staple of the series since the old legend of heroes games. It's kind of a series philosophy by now, and falcom keeps trying to make it different or spice up the formula each time

They could just not go with this formula this time (somewhat like they did with the 3rd), and have some dudes more experienced in a more mature story. They kind of hit a high with cops in crossbell, but then an all time low with school on sen.

Like on the calvard arc, be part of an infiltrator of the eastern mafia or something like that, but a more experienced guy but still with a lot to learn (similar to kevin)

When you deplete all his hp, he gets like 1 hp and he gets to instantly go over and over and over while casting instant death over and over and over. If you don't have 100 cp on any of your characters at that point, it's game over because you can't do shit. Fuck you to whoever designed that bullshit.

I had to redo that entire fight because the first time I didn't have enough cp to instantly use s-craft at that point.

Falcom had anywhere from 80-120~ hours to make Rean interesting in the first two games, and they squandered it on him being Class VII's guidance counselor for most of CS1 and later being a cheesy action hero with a mech and superpowers by in CS2. Compare that to Estelle and Joshua, whose humble beginnings in FC established a great character dynamic that would carry them through a fairly compelling narrative in the sequels. Better yet, compare that to Kevin, who was fully fleshed out as a character in a single game.

Falcom had their chances with Rean and they blew them. At this point, there are way too many other questions left unanswered in the series' narrative for me to give a shit about Rean anymore.

Stigmas were first introduced in SC actually so try again. Additionally, there are no clear examples of stigmas making anyone super poweful in the series until 3rd, which happens to be the game that establishes their connection to the gralsritter

Compare that to Rean's special snowflake power which is thrust into the player's face with no prior basis in the other games

Just because its never happened doesn't mean that he's wrong for worrying about it. Rean doesn't completely understand the full extent of his devil trigger mode so he probably feels like there's a chance of him losing control of it eventually.

Not him but I was just going to say that Rean can technically end up with nobody if he doesn't bond with anyone so he's not obligated to be in a relationship with a girl by CS3 so I guess anything is possible.

I still would find a brother-sister relationship between Rean and Altina adorable. Maybe instead of constantly self-loathing himself and calling himself a terrible brother like he does to Elise, he'll actively try and seek out her approval and be "cool" for her.
