these were both recent developments in the games world. they weren't around for centuries, and if they were, they would've been building whole cities.

Diamond city is fucking stupid because it's literally smaller than the whole of Boston, which is one of the smallest cities in the united states.

There is no substantial reason that humans surviving the nuclear apocalypse would not have rebuilt some sort of significant society after even 50 years, let alone 200.

My issue is more that everything is made out of random scrap or added onto structures that survived the nuclear war. Its like there is a complete lack of understanding that you can build brand new buildings from the ground up.

FO2 had entire cities of newly built buildings structures.

The 3D games had major hubs that were literally cobbled together from scrap everywhere.
