999 and Dishonored are dope. MGS3 is probably the best game of all time, and P5 is right up there too. I kind of agree with MGSV. It's fun, but it's a mere shadow of it's potential and it does so much wrong. I definitely wouldn't call it one of my favorite games. Harry Potter was fun as a kid, but try playing it again. That game fucking sucks, man.

P5, MGS3 and New Vegas are great. NieR is shallow as fuck and too repetitive. I don't like Danganronpa, FFX was kinda bland. Mass Effect is mediocre, Life is Strange is comfy kino and Witcher is great.

How obtuse is Pathologic? Everything I've read about it makes the premise sound incredible but I've also read that it's pretty inaccessible due to translation and just poor gameplay.

Well, it's a pretty aggressive surrvival game, easy to fuck up if you start to play with a wrong character and don't understand rules.
It's really unique, one of the best written stories and most deep survival mechanics out there. What fucks it up is HORRIBLE combat system with unresponsive hitboxes - sometimes 3x headshots still don't kill an enemy while one shot in his leg does (and this in a game with limited ammunition). Worth a try, it's on GOG. I heard translation was improved with HD remaster, but can't say anything on it since I played it in Russian (as native speaker).
You can also wait for remake, from demo it will turn out to be GREAT.

I have. I think the game is super fun, but the bad story and missed potential is just too much. It could have actually been the best game ever made, but it's an unfinished mess that falls apart in the second half. The first half is only good because I expected the second half to answer all the questions it set up, or go deeper with the story.

I think Chapter 2 is redeemed by how many emotional moments it has compared to Chapter 1. The Paz scenes and Shining Lights are among the best moments in the series for me.

I wouldn't recommend it. You can't really fuck up the way that you have to restart a save from three hours ago.
The world of the game is just a microcosm that is alive and the story doesn't push you forward. You have 12 days, each day you have one objective that is a must and 3-4 other sidequests that are essential to understand what's going on. You have to play it three times,each time from different perspective and (gradually) harder gameplay. For example first character is fuck-nobody so you reputation is neutral while last character is hated by everyone to the point you can't even buy something from a vendor. It's unique experience, but very story and dialogue heavy. It's essential a fucking book turned into a game. From atmosphere probably closest you can get to Crime&Punishment as a vidya, story is very philosophical and existentional.

Yeah, I do think the story is bad. It's way to minimal. That's not an inherently bad thing, but this is Metal Gear we're talking about. Especially considering it's supposed to be the grand finale to the saga, it's a huge let down how little story there actually is. It was supposed to be the fall of Big Boss too, but we got pretty much none of that. Venom was a saint 90% of the time, and the Big Boss reveal wasn't executed very well.

That would be fine, except Chapter 1 didn't have a good, satisfying story. I do agree that the Paz and Shining Lights scenes are 10/10, but even a disappointing game can have great parts to it.

I might get shit on hard for this, but I don't think it's trying to be. It's not a satisfying revenge tale because revenge is hollow. The whole point of Chapter 2 is about not being able to let go, even after everything is over.
It took me a long time to appreciate V's story, but hey, If you don't like it., you don't like it.
I know people who like MGS4's story and I don't.

Only thing that P4 did better was a cast interaction and development (not a cast itself). P5 has better and has more mature feeling compared to P2 (best SMT game story-wise).
Both P4 and P5 can't state for themselves have a good writing or story, P4 had better villain but in exchange worse overall tone.

Why is it not an answer? Story and characters are probably the most important aspects in text-heavy and ultra linear games like Persona.
I highly doubt that anyone of you fell in love with P3/P4 because of the terrible dungeon-crawling aspect.

Yes, one of the best and most underrated horror games. It's from the same guy who was behind SH1, top tier atmosphere and story.
It's actually the only horror game that does "you-can't-really-kill-them" right. You have weapons, you can fight mosnters, but they are more clever and stronger than you.
Game is unforgivingly hard though, it has certain set of rules that are fair and you should be fine as long as you follow them. Some objectives are retarded, so guide is advised.
Oh, Shibitos are best monsters from any horrow game.

Dota 2 sucks. It was somehow ok during beta... but it quickly became a shitty casual game when Valve decided to fuck things up in order to attract more players and sell more cosmetics and battlepasses.

I started playing less and less with every new patch, and finally quit cold turkey with the awful shrine/hud/skill tree patch. Tried to watch some tournaments at least, but it's nowhere near before, so I don't even follow the scene anymore.

Thank you Valve for curing the addiction I had since the early Starcraft/ Warcraft III mod days.

I consider LiS terrible from start to finish and I find it surprising that someone could find it decent, nevermind one of their favorite games. I don't think any Mass Effect game is anything special, the first one has good worldbuilding but that's all it has, the second lives and dies by its characters and none of them resonated with me.
