The game STILL recycles PS2 assets, more so than any previous MonHun actually - it has quite a few gen1/2 villages (including the first ever), areas and monsters.

And the base formula is still the same, just with badly implemented gimmicks on top, and by FAR the worst progression of any MonHun thus far, with shitty convoluted village quest lines and obligatory prowler quests for important unlocks. Also the shittiest end-game ever with Hyper monsters, which somehow manage to be even MORE lazy content stretching than sub-species or Frenzy monsters ever were, Capcom did it, the mad men!

I disagree, I think the game looks decent. I'm a PCfag who always tries to play the best version of a game, but I don't NEED every game to look like The Witcher 3 on ultra to play it. In fact, I lower the graphics when I can't get at least 60 fps until it hits 60 at least, because gameplay is more important to me than graphics. Also, I really like the way BotW looks, the only thing that really bothers me about it are the shitty ground textures, and I guess I can say the same about this MH game, the ground textures are still bad, same as when 3U was ported to WiiU. Unfortunately, we'll never get these games on PC with proper mod support to fix shit ourselves. Oh well.

What would be a good place to find a massive MoHun expert to pick the brains of for a game i'm working on?

the ps3 bluray disc size for portable 3rd is almost the same as the psp umd. it's slightly bigger on ps3 due to the specialized version of adhoc party that's bundled on there.

also thanks to portable 3rd on PS3 using basically a psp emulator, people on CFW have managed to inject other games into the emulator such as dissidia or phantasy star portable. it upscales those games to HD.
