for me it's gotta be behind silvermoon city. it's a bit tricky to get to, but there's such a great ocean view with the tiny bits of land scattered around with puddles of water.
you have the city to your back and sunstrider isle to your left. just beyond the horizon you can see sunwell plateau and there's cute little details scattered all around the perimeter of the coastline.

People keep saying this, but I was 11 when Gen3 released and I played it religiously at launch. Gen2 just had so much minor stuff to it that got cut with Ruby and Sapphire. I distinctly remember being disappointed as all fuck when I noticed that morning/day/night cycle, weekdays, the cellphone, headbutting trees and your room where out and that's just the early stuff. Gen I and Gen II definitely have a different atmosphere from the rest of the series, except maybe FRLG, it did a good job of holding onto it. Then I'd say RSE and Gen IV had their own that still tried to be somewhat close, and then Gen V and XY departed again for its own feel. Then ORAS and SM just feel bland besides what traces of RSE's that remains in ORAS.
>>378532443
It actually makes some cool additions and changes, but ultimately the game balance is completely whack and the complete lack of Emerald features and some changes to even RS really weigh the game down. I'd ultimately put it on par with Emerald but only because I really value having more up to date core mechanics and don't value Emerald that highly to begin with.

I get what you mean. It feels like returning to a once-safe place but this time as a stranger. After journeying through Johto, Kanto no longer feels quite like your home so you get nostalgia but you also feel like an outsider.
It didn't help that, as the other anon said, it was a lot more hollow. There were a lot of elements that made Kanto special that were now missing, like the Safari Park and the Lavender Tower. This combined with Cinnabar Island being obliterated made it feel as though the whole place was just kind of falling apart.

Vanilla servers are overrated. It's a massive grind once you hit 30 and the game is just a chore. Even when I was in highschool and had no life, I only got to like 38. Tried it back on Emerald Dream pserver and burned out again in high 30's.
/v/ will tell you not to play live, but it's pretty good. You can turn off the new character models and have a good time going 0-60. People like Legion and Live is heavily populated still.
If you want to prove me wrong and power through burnout, Elysium is kind of the best server right now for vanilla. Go to r/wowservers if you want to actually get info instead of /v/ buttblasting you.

I'm about 8 hours into Fallout 4 for the first time and I can't help but think about NV the entire time I'm playing it. It's just an open vague mess. There's nothing to the characters or the places. NV pseudo-linear in that it pushes you in directions, but their sort of like narrative arcs where you can go anywhere within them until you move onto the next one and it means that everything about the characters and places is so much more developed.
Also I can't throw grenades in VATS any more. Fuck this.

Lands of Lore 1 is very comfy.
When i was young, i playied this game so much in the rainy weekends.

Snowbro
May sound weird but I found a shitload of places in the first 3 Resident Evils comfy. Some save rooms are an obvious choice many would agree with but I find a lot of areas even outside in zombietown comfy, especially in the start of Resi2 as you're going to the police station. It's a cold, lonely, melancholy kindof atmosphere but for some reason it just.. clicks with me.
I used to spend IRL weeks doing 12 hour (in-game) shifts watching the border and heading back to the warehouses to resupply, sleep, and chill by the main campfire.
Comfy times.

>Mount Moon has shrunken down to a little cave that makes Dark Cave seem like a Hollow Earth continent.
>Cinnabar island was completely destroyed by a volcanic eruption; Blaine is now a broken man stuck squatting in a room-sized cave in the Seafoam Islands.
>Oh, and the Seafoam Islands? Yeah, that's completely gone, too, for whatever reason.
>The Power Plant was reopened, but it's been shrunken down, too. I've always liked it, I thought it was a cool, individual dungeon.
>Viridian Forest is now just a tiny hedge maze. I'm sure you could make some armchair symbolism about how what was once a place so intimidating to a child is now nothing to a well-traveled guy with 8-16 badges, but come on.
>One of the underground tunnels is closed.
>Can't go up Silph Co or Pokemon Tower; the latter of which got an extreme and possibly unethical makeover. Seriously, who agreed to that?
>No Safari Zone (closed), no Pewter Museum (closed), no Unknown Dungeon/Cerulean Cave (entrance vanished), no Rocket Hideout (apparently filled with cement, though why would they make it a basement or extension of the casino?
Worst of all? Only a third of these things were fixed in HGSS.

All of P4 is max comfy. They had a really great low stakes storyline but they had to go and fuck it up with that retardation of a final boss. And then retcon the shit outta the comfy experience with one of the most unpleasant characters in the series.
>>378523769
Gen 3 removed day/night cycles because the internal battery dies after 5 or so years and time based events stop working, meaning the game would be stuck in whatever time of day it was when the battery died. (this effects berry growth in the actual game)
Have you played your original pokemon silver game recently? The effects on gbc games are much more devastating, you'll find that saving no longer works.
.flow is a pretty messed up game, and the Sugar Hole, with its relaxed piano music and cake, contrasts pretty sharply with everything else.
>>378523084

>>378551662
>armchair symbolism

>>378553287

it's affects in this context
also since berry growth is tied to the internal battery (which in RS were pathetic and some came dead out of the box) that's obviously not why they removed day/night cycles
>>378549883
Game?
>>378553287
My Gold and Crystal battery died but my original Blue cart still fucking works. I still have my original save file with my full pokedex and that stupid certificate. I got it soon after it came out, it's been -21- fucking years. HOW?
>>378553221
Yeah Rise is terrible
>>378553457
A day night cycle would put a massive strain on the internal battery and drained it in a matter of years. You could play ruby for about 10 years or so before it went dry, whereas g/s would die after 4 or 5
It's disappointing it's not in the game, but they re-implemented literally in the next generation as soon as technology became better, and has been a staple feature ever since
>>378553867
r/b didn't have day night cycles, whereas g/s did. Puts a big strain on the battery.
>>378554069
ah, of course, fair enough. I wonder how much charge is left for it. I completed that save when I was 10 or 11. I'm fucking 30 now. This thing is a window to what feels like several lifetimes ago.
I don't have any pictures, but there's an area inBorderlands 2called Hayters Folley that's so out of place. It's a hidden oasis that I used to visit all the time just to listen to the music.

>>378557823
I prefer Creatures 1, they had a whole different 2D design as opposed to cartoonish 3D. The world was on an actual world too, not a space station. Was mega comfy, I used to do Mengele-tier experiements in the hopes of breeding a super norn with advanced intelligence. I had actual charts with brain chemistry and timeline of drugs administered and punishments/rewards given. A lot of them I still have with a mark that says "EUTHANISED" or "CLEANSED".
>Maverick
>Child of Rex/Deedee
>Genetic Makeup: Same as Rex except having Chem Reactions of 59 - 472 (default 60-480)
>Seems to be somewhat wiser than the average norn and thus easier to take care of.
>Loves to shimmy left and right really fast
>CLEANSED
This was after I found out that the shimmying was a direct result of a fault in their brain chemistry. Can't breed no ubernorn with a genetic defect.
>>378559392

If you were to fly out of Stormwind and head north, you'd fly over a little spring with a waterfall just outside of Northshire. At the top of that waterfall there was a little house. Before the patch that killed wall jumping (during TBC, can't remember the number) I'd go up there and just hang out. It was a nice relaxing spot because most people didn't go there and it was fairly tough to get to. Other cool wall jumping stuff:
>Zoning into ZG and then jumping up and out and running around an instanced, enemy-less STV
>Jumping up and over the Ironforge AH
>Going all the way SW in Westfall and finding the small secluded beach
I've got a million others. Of course flying in old content killed all exploration, but that's a separate discussion. I miss Classic World of Warcraft. Pic very related.
Anyone know the spot I'm referencing above?
Pretty much anywhere in this game desu

>when one of them pulls out a guitar
>>378562863
It's comfy as fuck but the place always saddens me.
The place because of knowing the history about Laguna and Raine. The music because it uses the Fisherman's Horizon theme which reminds me of when I used to go sit around the boss area to play with the cats to make myself feel a bit better after my first cat died when I was in secondary school. Used to go there, listen to the theme, watch the cats play and cry to bleed out some of the pressure in my head.
It's comfy as fuck for me, but in a very painful way. The Winhill story being all about loss and missed opportunities at happiness makes it both sweeter and hit harder.
Its a bitch to do all the quests to actually get up here, but it became one of my favorite spots of all time once I did. The music is so serene, makes you almost forget about all the killer robots down below.
>>378521039
The music. I can hear it.
Honestly G&S have many comfy places. I loved that game as a kid, not for the pokemon craze, not for the battles or such, I just liked the exploration, the stuff like fucking suddenly you're almost ending the game and you can visit the whole fucking map from the previous game and such.
And timed events.
Of course gen 4 improved on this in my opinion, but yeah. I get the complaints for gen 2 but motherfucker I spend so many hours there.

"Gorgeous" is an insane exaggeration for a game that looked okay for its day on the 360. In the grand scheme of things it was not that good looking at all. What it did right was atmosphere and art direction (though again it wasn't fantastic at all in that department) and what it fucked up was almost everything else.
