my main problem with Intel is how they always change the fucking mobo socket, otherwise their products are very solid and I tend to choose it over AMD.

My past experiences with the Phenom II X4 965 were good, though, don't know how Ryzen improved on that.

I didn't overclock it as hard as you but GTAV is a lot smoother.
I also notice less "microstutter" across lots of games, which is a common complaint with Intel's CPUs.
Ask yourself if your CPU is actually bottlnecking you yet and then decide, you might be better waiting for Zen 2 if not.

Also multitasking is great, I was idling for GTAV funbux while playing Witcher 3 and had my browser open, didn't even use 50%.

People who want a good deal. I got an i7 4790 with a micro atx motherboard and 4gb ram for £150. The new ryzen 1600 and Intel's i5s start at £220 for the processor alone. Get more ram. I was getting microstutter on an i5 build with 8gb ram and I was told it was because 4 cores aren't good enough anymore. I called bullshit and decided to get more ram and it fixed my problems straight away. Apparently when you hit over ~70% ram usage Windows does some memory management and moves a lot of background apps into the page file on the hdd which causes problems when a game is trying to quickly load in assets and results in microstutter. The increased ram made my gta 5 go from some intense stutterfest to smooth sailing.

I just added 2 extra 4gb sticks to my current 2x4gb configuration. I'm not exaggerating when I say the difference was massive. I couldn't play gta 5 at all like it would be really stuttery when driving through the towns and I though it was the cpu maxing out like people said but I did some testing and found that it was linked the hdd hitting 100%. I thought that my hard drive might be too slow or it was just straight up dying.

Getting more ram fixed the issue for me as Windows wasn't fucking with my hdd when I was playing games because I had enough ram to keep background apps in memory. I don't know if it will fix your issue too but it's always with a try over spending hundreds on a new processor.
