Finished around 7 sp game in the past 2 weeks, OW is the perfect braindead shit when you feel jaded.

Out of all the boxes I've got, I've had quite a few Legendaries drop.
So far I've got: the steampunk Bastion, the antique Bastion, the dunebuggy Bastion.
I only have 6 minutes on that character

The gamedesign of overwatch is intentionally designed in a way that you could be the absolute best at your rank but never rank up, or be the absolute worst and still rank up.

How the game "achieves" this is by letting one player take control over the experience for the whole team. If someone afks, or nobody picks a healer, then you're fucked. You would have to be an outstanding 5% player to "carry".

Furthermore, the game actively encourages you to main a few heroes and never fill in by displaying stats that'll make you look like a fucking superhero when in reality, you're maybe above average at best.

What does this have to do with skins? Well, if you can't rank up and the other gamemodes are pretty much worthless, then what's left? Why are you playing a game that let's you gamble for a very good or very bad experience? Unlockables is the answer. And since skins are the only thing worth giving a damn about, that's what people will concern themselves with the most and make it a prime focus of the experience.

The game's whole economy is built around skins, every event is built around skins, skins skins skins is the entire fucking game. It's the only thing to do, the only thing to collect, and every aspect of this """game""" (and I use the term loosely because a gambling scheme whose every mechanic is built around making you spend more money can hardly be referred to as such) is designed to make you pay up for loot crates. The entire game is built around cosmetics, the end screen of every match is engineered to show off your skins and make the people who don't have them feel like they're missing out, even opening a loot box has animation and sound design engineered to resemble a gambling machine in a casino and make retards feel like they're accomplishing something.

This gets proven by every event, where people spend hundreds of dollars just to get a CHANCE to get 1 specific item for one specific character.

Do you need literally every single Dance emote for all characters?
I had like 5000 OW currency when the event started and just bought the dances for Tracer and Sombra since those were the only 2 dances I liked on characters I actually play.

If you actually play this game more than 1 day a week for an hour or two you should have plenty of money.
My GF plays probably 10-12 hours a week and has 11,000 OW currency

In my honest opinion, yes. They hired more artists than programmers and level designers first and foremost. They are paying people to make these things and hype them up because they have nothing else to ever release besides the occasional character and (1) new main game modes map. In a year. The explicit words of the project lead were that they would be supporting the game for years to come. Vomiting skins, not fixing glaring issues (every map is a series of choke-points with no real design beyond "these paths all lead to a single choke with no work-around, enjoy,) or putting the customer first. The last line, however, has been a fact of all Blizzard games since World of Warcraft.

3. You can reroll them using the most common in-game currency up to 3 times at increasing quantities and if your box gutter-rolls the unbox itself, the first reroll guarantees a better result
4. Many of the skins in HoTS are of a significantly higher quality than Overwatch
