Bruce faked his death by burning down the manor after showing the media that he was definitely in the house by going through the front door rather than the hidden batcave enterance. He is also using fear gas so that criminals think that batman is a literal demon and make them more scared then ever before and we know it's fear gas because the design is the same one scarecrow saw after being injected. To sum everything up, Bruce is still going as batman but doesn't get restrained by also keeping up appearances as Bruce Wayne. It's hinted at when he mentions to Selina that Gotham needs a better batman that can only rise from the ashes of the old.
