I can imagine the twist to be that the chief oracle tells you that your civilization is about to meet its end and the apocalypse was coming. I'd worry 'Soul Journeys' would just be an excuse to make awkward disconnected shit like most of DS2 or the Nightmare Frontier in BB. Fine areas on their own, but not really interconnected with anything else.

Also having Conquistadors around would broaden the gear you could have available, and make some for some more interesting areas with enemies fighting each other or some shit. Village slaughtered by Spaniards, boat strung up with the corpses of spaniards, lots of bloody fun you could make.

I like the Idea of an Aztec BB. I loved Bloodborne but it was more or less a complete story (You start out in the middle of things and solve The Problem™ by the end + DLC showed what the start of The Problem™ was) so my biggest worry about a BB2 was it being a direct sequel because what could they make it about? Ambiguity is intrinsically tied to Souls. I personally was fascinated by the End of Fire ending due to how beautiful and melancholic it was. With the Ashen One and the Firekeeper spending one last moment together before the light of the world dies out. I just want it to have a scenario where you hopelessly fight against the conquistadors only for their guns to blast you away despite your persistence, and then slowly realize the age of warriors has ended.

Well, I think Nioh technically has a more complex battle system than Bb with its skill tree and different stances but I'd wager that the Souls games are tougher precisely because certain things like infinite Ki makes Nioh too easy.
