What went wrong?

7 years of dev time were wasted on Nomura's retarded flights of fancy so they finally brought in Tabata to actually get something fucking done. They basically had 2 years to finish this massive open world game so it was shoved out the door prematurely.

Nomura booted off the team and Tabata going full retard with bullshit like the movie and the anime when he should have been just focusing on the game.
There was no room for the map after they worked tirelessly on food models.

open world

Nomura being in a leadership position at all contributed to the shit status of the game.

>people defend Nomura.

Their stupid engine and Tabata.

it has to be either Kingdom Heartsfags who aren't too acquainted with FF, or it's just people in general who are unacquainted with FF's history.
Squaresoft/SE made much better games when Nomura was simply a character designer (something he's damn good at, at least for monster design) and not a director/producer of an entire game. Only people who have played all the games from 5 (his first art credit) to 15 can make an accurate assessment here.
A low budget side game all of a sudden needed to be the next big thing. It was either start with this 1% of a game or nothing at all so they took the faster route. This isn't such a bad sin but what really is unforgivable is they advertised unused concepts when the game wasn't going to include any of it.

And yet FF7 is probably the most popular FF and he played a huge role in it nit just in creating the charactera looks, also big parts of their story, aeriths death as opposed to all characters whoch was actually planned and he basicly told them to make limit breaks

Go look up his role mate. He made some good suggestions and did a lot for the art direction, but that's nothing like what Kitase and Sakaguchi had to do at the top level of organization of the game
The highest level Nomura should have ever been promoted was art director.

Read through the huge ass FF7 interview from last year. And if he's really so bad at it then i'd rather blame Squares management for not noticing whixh has been shit ever since the merge anyway
