It's ironic that Fates did Witches better than Gaiden, a game that created Witches, and Echoes, a game that came after it.

In Fates, Witches behaved intelligently, targetting your weakest guys, but they could only warp to allies. This meant you had to be extra careful with enemies, because even one enemy in range meant a dozen witches could warp in and fuck you over.

In Echoes, Witches can warp anywhere so there's literally no counterplay against them, and in order to balance it they made Witch AI completely random and retarded as fuck.

I did. Didn't bother touching it on my first play through until i explored Thabes. Got to floor 10 and died to 3 of those fucking zombies getting crits on alm. So instead of spending an entire day trying to get there again. I just went ahead and started experiencing the DLC. Was really drawn to the overclasses and I don't feel like griding exotic spices for gold either which is why I got the season pass.

Didn't bother using mila's blessing either until after thabes as well. Though on my next playthrough i might use those maps and blessing as soon i can.

I'm having trouble deciding when to promote. After a half-dozen games of settling for nothing less than 20, I'm stuck with soldiers and villagers who are godawful, and make grinding XP a terrible idea.

Aside from the extra stat growth for those that can't reset like Dreadfighters these are the following things.

Falcon Knight > Harrier: They get access to Fire
Sage > Guru: They get access Lemegton which is known as summoning illusions.
Saint > Examplar: Gets access to Ward which increases res and Restore which cure ailments.
Priestesses > Enchantress: Gets access to Mire and Death (cantor/Witch magic)
Dread Fighter > Yasha: Gets access to Tri-affliction which is a skill/2 chance to inflict status ailments.
Gold Knight > Skogul: gains no skills only stat growth.
Princess > Rigain: gains no skill only stat growth.
Bow Knight > ???
Baron > ???

Personally there's not enough pitchforks to go around so it's a nice tool to increase stats aside from the zodiac shard approach from the DLC as well.

I felt like it saved me a lot of grief during the final dungeons where restarting meant having to go back and redo a good chunk of play-time. Outside of them I find it inoffensive, like casual mode. The sort of thing I'd use if I made a retarded mistake on turn 1 or received a low % crit. I would definitely cap it to 3 uses, though.

Stupid list my man. Alm turned out mediocre in my game. Kliff is tankier than a Baron and doubles even with a Dracoshield, literally solos maps. Tobin is tanky af as a BK and Crits for days. Clair, although a bit frail, still puts in work and cleans up remaining Arcanists. Forsyth is Lukas with better SPD and RES. Luthier is a good Arcanist killer alongside his sister. Clive is utter shit, but I do agree with Boey.

I think lists like these are pointless considering luck is too big of a factor. Many may not experience what others did.

Sonya is going to be around as good as Mae, but she won't get access to Seraphim so she looses out there. Boey fills his own niche as a relatively tanky Mage, which is a role she can't really fill. Deen, on the other hand, is actually one of the better Dread Fighters in the game, along with the bonus fact that Dread Fighters are increadibly useful in Celica's route due to the high no. of enemy Mage units she has to face. Any of the nice bonuses you get from Sonya such as Entrap and Reward are comparatively not that useful.
