Sakurai was too autistic to put SS Link and SS Zelda as the default Link and Zelda in Sm4sh because of the lack of Ganondorf in SS, and in his mind SS Link fighting TP Ganondorf makes no sense.

I just imagine there being the TP Link, Zelda and Ganon
then they have BotW Link with a new moveset and his gimmick revolves around having strong weapons, but they all have a durability meter
they can even give him Revali's Gale as up special

It'll still be TP Link and Zelda, but Link will get Champion's Tunic as an alt, and his Down Special will become Remote Bomb, which is pretty much the same except that it explodes upon inputting Down Special again.

On the other hand SS wasn't received particularly well and was mostly forgotten soon after release. BotW is Nintendo's magnum opus and kickstarted the Switch into success. I think high brass might make Sakurai understand.

If they add BotW Zelda to Smash I honestly wish they'd give her an entirely dfferent moveset from the old Zelda.

I'd prefer her going full ancient magitech or something with Sheikah slate runes and Guardian lasers and stuff.
