No you get giant hordes of zerglings. 2 zerglings cost 50 minerals and only 1 supply. Supplement with some hydralisks to deal with air units and some ultralisks to absorb reaver/siege tank shots and you can run over a base easily

It's the last Terran mission and yeah, that's exactly what I did: I built a ton of turrets along my base's main roads so the ghosts started nuking them instead of nuking the base directly.
I took out that white base choke point by sending a Battleship, Yamatoed the siege tanks from a safe distance and then I sent my own siege thanks to wipe everything else.

I'm dogshit at RTS, but what I did was attack move the zealots and then control the dragoons. Move them all into range of a sunken colony and then volley the hell out of it and such. Terrans are very strong currently. In all match ups that aren't TvZ Vultures with spider mines are the preferred units these days, combined with some tanks and occassionally a goliath if the oponent has a lot of air units.

Vultures are the fastest units in the game and the mines are a pain in the ass to deal with.

Marines, medics and occasionally firebats only see much competitive use against Zerg in the early to mid game, otherwise mech is much favored over bio for its better scaling in late game.
Vultures only cost 25 minerals more than marines, are fast as fuck, absolutely murder workers and can plant mines, making them ridiculously cost efficient.
Seige tanks are used in all matchups and get pretty much the best scaling off damage upgrades in the game, but especially define terran v terran games where seige lines can end up spanning literally the whole map. They are also vital in late game TvZ when you literally cannot damage anything without splash damage against Defiler's dark swarm spell.
Goliaths are generally only built in modest numbers for their antiair, which is pretty strong, but most of the time a terran player wantshave more tanks.

Wraiths sometimes come into play in TvT for picking off tanks and harassing mineral lines, which can prompt one or two Valkyries to be made in response because Wraiths can't take a hit for shit.
Science vessels are a staple in TvZ for detecting / irradiating lurkers, and in late game TvP for countering Arbiters cloaking ability and landing EMPs on them so they can't mass recall on top of production.

Pure mech is nearly extinct in TvZ, it's either SK terran or Bio + mech switch.

In TvT and TvP bio is pretty worthless because it becomes useless later on but there's still some early marine-based cheese that's quite strong.

For an unskilled player with <60 APM and not much time to practice, what are some strategies that will give me the best chance of success? I figure I have no chance if the game ends up as 5 base vs 5 base because I'll be outmatched in macro and micro, so I'm looking for builds that end the game early. Should I bother with stuff like 4-pool, BBS, proxy gates, etc. or will that stuff favor the player with more APM? Will I be able to close out games with fast carriers or will that not work? If my opponent expects me to rush, how can I take advantage of that (what sort of timing attack should I go for)?

Carriers seem to be less micro-intensive than other lategame unit compositions, is that true?
