I'm similar. Other than A Song of Ice and Fire, Berserk, and Witcher I generally don't care about fantasy in general. Politics and moral ambiguity, the lack of which is my biggest beef with the genre, are what drew me into the Witcher. Witcher's an interesting case because while it superficially resembles Lord of the Rings with elves, dwarves, and literal hobbits it's tone is that of a low fantasy like GoT.

Now you have 3-4 big combat buffs and do a shitton more damage per hit, resulting in mostly 1-3 hits to kill someone. Which is kinda fun considering the game gets to be a glasscannon gameplay on DM this way. Can't say it's too easy because you just die from a single hit yourself, although that might be because of NG+ where everything will just rape you.

The gameplay in 1 is serviceable as long as you remember it was developed to be a top-down NWN-like (literally uses the same version of Aurora) and the third-person camera was added after the fact. It's not great gameplay-wise but definitely worth playing through on easy just to see some of the baller quests.

2 has aged a lot worse, they tried to make it more active but everything from the hit detection to the balance is completely fucked. Structure wise it's a lot more linear but halfway through branches out and becomes entirely different depending on who you side with.

You'll think it's mediocre to shit at first, but it's supposed to be like that a bit at first. Then your brain clicks and you add on more and more combos.
