After playing tank for all of Heavensward I think I'll just do caster DPS in Stormblood. Both BLM and SMN got some really great addition it looks like and RDM seems like it'll be fun too. But I'm not looking forward to the day 1 PotD grind to get it to 60 so I can even start on Stormblood content.

I've had this game for over a year and haven't even started it yet, I don't really know anyone that owns the game, and I hate playing solo in MMOs. But this expansion looks so good I might just start playing it anyway

I really want to like this game, but as someone who gives 0 shits about the MSQ i could not finish it.

I wanted it to be a lot less grindy than WoW and put a different spin on it. Instead I got much slower and more sluggish gameplay.

It also doesn't help that the world is so static and there are no attractions that can keep my mind off the fact thay i have a while shitload of quests and grinding to get through

There's stuff like chocobo stables, gardening, company workshops. But they also promised individual housing. But they're no more distinct than they were before. You're just rewarded less for the same amount of effort if you bother to try to play well on a tank or healer.

It's a fundamental issue, too. This idea of "Oh well if bosses hit hard enough and often enough that tanks and healers needed to focus entirely on defense and healing" doesn't work, even on paper, because there's no benefit to surviving something even harder, or healing more when you're already healing through the whole fight.

Allowing every role to contribute meaningfully to the single universal metric between all class roles (DPS) is the only way for the game to remain engaging for players of all classes as you gear up past the minimum iLevel required.

There's really no way that WAR can be "broken". It's basically the same thing that it is right now, with a moderate potency boost that comes from having more Fell Cleaves and Berserk's uptime buff outweighing the nerf to its damage boost.

The cost it pays for that is basically losing its primary utility with the loss of the Path debuff and no longer being the best at applying the Slashing debuff, losing its ability to do better pulls than the other tanks, losing its ability to seamlessly swap stances, and losing the only good cross-class suite out of all the tanks.

Best-case scenario, WAR ends up occupying the same space it does now, but the gap between it and the next-best OT is cut by three-quarters. Worst-case scenario, it gets overtaken entirely by a suite of skills that's more powerful than just "lots and lots of Fell Cleaves".
