Rabbids have only slightly more soul than the minions. They're ubisoft's equivalent and there are some creative and human parts at Ubisoft. But they are tiny.

Except that's totally bullshit. Splatoon is a perfect example of something that everyone was calling kiddie trash when it was revealed, and then the game went on to be one of the best selling new IP of the entire generation, even though it is on the worst selling console of the generation.

To be fair "use the popularity of the biggest series in gaming to increase awareness and potentially popularity of your own series" is a good option. There's a million other crossovers that would've been wildly successful on their own. People would go crazy for a Mario/Sonic RPG you wouldn't even have to convince anyone to buy it. They could've even made an internal crossover with a couple of their IP, Mario/Zelda would be a crazy popular crossover too. But no. They had to pick the most unpopular, unsettling mascot they could find. They're not even popular anymore, and even when they were, they were just more annoying than anything.
