It has amazing presentation and simple gameplay

The only real complaints about the game are the rng and the amount of grind you have to do
>>
>>378380932
Sounds like the seventh sin for snes

Have the devs said anything about helping the rng complaints

The game is enhanced greatly by having an active imagination, similar to Etrian Odyssey I think. The art direction and presentation is stellar. RNG will be very frustrating until you realize how breakable the game is, then you will either find it very boring and easy or have a lot of fun trying experimental teams and finding new ways to bullshit the game.

The grind is absurdly unnecessary and is the biggest thing killing the game. There is simply no reason for you to have to grind so much of the same content over and over to get to the end, and the mechanics regarding losing characters to the final dungeon are completely stupid, despite the dungeon itself being fun to traverse and beat.

I liked the game enough to buy it after pirating and I think it was worth it. My autism compelled me to beat the game and beating the game is not worth it.

If you say a game is good if it gives you hours of enjoyment, darkest dungeon is a good game. If you look at the game objectively as an entire experience from beginning to end and rate it as a whole, it is not a good game.

radiant mode is easy mode for the old types who cant do the concentration dance any longer
>>

Last thoughts I should have put in that postj

Complaints about RNG aren't really understanding the real flaw of the game. Darkest Dungeon is about amassing knowledge of the game, it's systems (which are simple), and learning to exploit those systems. Once you truly understand what you are doing, you will never die to RNG. In my 87 hours I only had 6 character deaths on default difficulty with default settings, and no one died to stress ever.

My real biggest complaint is that Etrian Odyssey is a blatantly superior experience to it in every way even though the games are quite different.

>not playing every game with active imagination

you have to enjoy your autism

Do mods fix the game?
>>
>>378382552
There's an easy mode already.

>Open the game
>Play my first mission
>Have to flee
>Two of my four or five characters have developed traits that prevent them from reducing stress (can only go to x, but also can't go to x"
>Uninstall
Combat seemed pretty fun, and I bet that it gets deeper as the game goes on, but the rest of it is just too grindy and unfun to deal with.

You can't say "the rest of it is grindy and unfun" if you haven't played the rest of it. You literally have barely touched what gameplay is and you're acting like you have an expert opinion. You can dislike it all you want, but don't try and act like you know the game well enough to tell other people not to play it
>>
>>378385193
How did I act like I had an "expert opinion"? OP asked "Is this game bad?" Bad is subjective, and I gave my SUBJECTIVE opinion. Cunt.

I recommend Radiant mode for beginners since it's still fairly challenging even through it's literally a "easy mode." If you like turn-rpg then this is well worth a try. Only few rules you need to set for yourself are heroes are dispensable in the beginning and remind yourself that overconfidence is blah blah blah fucking retreat if it calls for it.

DLC releasing in June 19th and everything so far sounds ballin'. Await for a summer sale if possible.

I'ts a good game. Hard to get into at first, sometime unfair.
The deseperate vibe is portrayed very well.It make you feel victorious when you clear a dungeon.
The midgame was grindy before the "Radiant Dawn update" but a lot less now.
In short, good, hard, sometime unfair but rewarding game.
Also I think this is one of the few games where you should read something to help you before getting into.
Pic related.

Radiant Mode is more Turbo mode than easy mode, since grinding forever is only tedious.

Disabling Corpses and Heart Attacks is easy mode.

It's a poorly designed game with RNG as the meat instead of the seasoning. RNG will dictate everything from heroes getting 1-shot with no warning, to heroes losing valuable trinkets when relieving stress in town, to complete train-wreck stress-break chains that lead to party wipes.

It used to take HOURS of grinding to replace higher level dudes, but they fixed it so you can recruit higher level dudes from the wagon. Still, you will spend way to much time grinding for upgrade mats, all of which become worthless once you max out your town.

>Heroes getting one shot
You can't die in one hit in this game, you always have death's door.
Heroes never lose trinkets when de-stressing at the Abbey, just don't send them to the tavern.

This. Radiant is slightly easier but the difficulty is about the same but the grind is sped up a bit so you can enjoy the game. The real test is Stygian since there are higher stakes involved. In the mean time, waiting for dlc patiently. Once you figured out and used the mechanics, you can complete the game easy and it becomes repetitive because there is always a optimal way of doing things so RNG becomes mostly irrelevant.

That's a big exaggeration. You just fail to call your shots early and VERY rarely do you get heroes that go from full health to deathblow in a span of a turn. Like you have to be either ill prepared to have not prevented the scenario or unfortunate to experience a consecutive 4-fish/dog/spider gangbang.

In this case, it means being killed from 100% - 0% before you can take action on your turn. From 100 to 0, to deaths door, to dead. It can and will happen

go past the sickdark aesthetics and it's a glorified mobile game
>>
>>378389251
I think really the only time I've felt like that happened was when I moved up from easy to normal dungeons and then from normal to hard again. That's such a big leap in difficulty since you're going in with the minimum level and probably not fully upgraded gear or trinkets.

Once everyone hits 6 though, pretty much all dungeons and most bosses go on farm. There's still a few bosses you have to cheese though.

There is literally no circumstances in the game under which this is possible. Everything is theoretically preventable if you had made the right party, trinket and action choices. Usually you made a choice that involved some risk. Your character WASNT 100%, he was 70% from the last fight, you COULD have camped and healed but it was too early in the dungeon for you to waste that log, how were you supposed to know you'd get ambushed against an enemy group with two fast attackers since you didnt stack your own party with fast attackers and you didnt bother to equip anti-ambush trinkets on a party member or a dodge trinket on that squishy party member and you didnt bother to buy enough torches to keep the light at max the whole time.

You took what you thought was a small risk and got punished for it eventually. If you play the game entirely risk neutral, you almost 100% won't get any deaths but you'll have to grind alot longer. Game gives you morally and ethically problematic choices for a reason. Risk vs Reward and Expediency vs Practicality. You could just throw guys into the grinder constantly until you get enough funds to put together an all star team or you could carefully manage one team all the way through.

>look up enemies on wiki
>check speed
>make sure appropriate party members outspeed enemies

It's that easy

If you're figuring everything out on your own without looking it up, there's no reason to get attached to your characters anyway.
