Usually if I make a girl character, it's for variety, since I usually play male characters. Particularly in a roleplaying game, being female specifically makes different implications for a character's backstory, especially in a world where the roles of men and women aren't identical.

Tabletop especially, due to how most worlds are, females tend to have a harder time reaching proficiency in the same places men do, so when you see a female character who's able to fill similar roles as men, she's pretty much top of her tier. There's some truth to the saying that women who've made it to those kinds of positions tend to be much more vicious and focused than their male peers on the whole since usually if you're not blessed with the natural attributes for a task, you have to make up for it in resourceful and creative ways.

My first character is a stand in for me. A pretty boring neutral guy that plays a caster class typically.

My second character is a female to see the different outfits. Usually ends up being a psychopath if there's a good/evil system so I can try out the other side there as well. Kinda funny how that ends up.
