Take a look at what footage from 2014-2015, its first year. Its a huge step up. With each following year, the differences get smaller and smaller, and this is because of several huge missteps the developer made.

He wanted to add in an open world when he was only a one developer studio. This is impossible for obvious reasons, and on top of this he wanted volunteers with "professional experience" which is even dumber. He gets sidetracked way too much, its a repeat of DNF where if he sees something he likes in one game, it has to be in Yandere Simulator, and this is at its most apparent when "boss fights" despite being pitched in 2014 still have yet to be implemented after 3 years. He wastes development time on stupid fucking easter eggs that add nothing to the game, and as a result the game feels entirely like Youtube fodder/ a meme game.

To be fair its perfect the perfect fodder games for Youtubers to play. Its so wacky and randum for Lets Players to make exaggerated reactions to. There's also the fact that it makes enough progress for it to be in the public eye, the developer still never ran off with the money, and there's a promise of a game. Its just that if people look deeper, the flaws become more apparent, and I doubt this can be kept up forever. Sooner or later the developer wants to make a Kickstarter, and the game will have to come out.
