To be fair, the last Beta was their release candidate, and they did end up releasing it. I've seen that in the last week they fixed a lot of sound issues, fixed some (but not all) bipod issues, and made picking up weapons easier, but that's all I've seen so far. I'm not sure how much of the movement issues will be fixed by launch, except for that "zooming in while sprinting" bug that was fixed.

Now with that said, the movement issues aren't game breakingly bad. Yes, some things that you shouldn't have to vault need to be vaulted and some things that you should be able to vault can't be vaulted. But the core movement mechanics are fine. They certainly aren't as game breakingly awful as people on /v/ make them out to be.

I was the exact opposite, I pretty much only played supremecy because I personally didn't care much for Hill 937 and Apartments 2: Vietnam Boogaloo. I do agree with you though, more maps for both modes are desperately needed. Skirmish mode was fun for about ten minutes, then I realized it was just a waste of the developers time and resources.

For what it's worth, at least the mapping tools are already released, although a game shouldn't have to rely on its community to fix its issues.

It's definitely faster paced, mainly because almost everyone has automatic weapons now. Running and gunning is no longer viable only for assault classes now, so naturally it's going to be more common.

But does that make it "CoDified"? I guess that depends on your definition. Personally, I wouldn't say they CoDified it. It's absolutely faster paced, but it's still not some arena shooter that relies solely off of twitch reflexes like CoD. It still retains a lot of the tactical thinking and careful maneuvering of older RO games, but it's just at a faster pace. It is also considerably asymmetrical in terms of each factions weapons, so that in and of itself sets itself apart from CoD and Battlefield.

pretty much, I mean we survived long enough without campaign in RO, but now we've had it and seen how well it works it just seem a bad decision to not release with it and a few extra maps to support it.

It has a lot of potential, but it looks like it'll be down to the mod community to fulfil that role and my worry is will the player base stick around long enough for modders to even bother investing the time.

They can be really decent, i mean, procedural isn't completely random, there can be templates, or temperature maps related to how they should be generated

I really don't miss the cover system all that much. The only thing it was actually useful for were bipods (which I will admit, don't work as well in RS2) and stabilizing your weapon (which does work well in RS2). In my 200 hours of RO2/RS I think I got one blindfire kill. Actually using it for cover was generally a poor idea.

Still, even though I don't particularly miss it, I kinda wish it was still an option.

I sort of wish they had gone the route of a staged system for reloading animations, like BF1 uses, as that is a good system(along with terrain destruction) even if most of the game is pretty shit.

The game always tries to keep you in your currently selected position. If you are standing and sprint, you'll sprint standing and return to standing when you stop. If you sprint crouching, you'll do a weird hunched roadie run kinda thing and then remain crouched when you stop sprinting. Since you obviously can't sprint prone, you get up into that hunched run and then drop back down into prone when you are done sprinting.

I don't think that's a bug, but in any case it should be an option to turn that on or off.

Why the fuck would you use a toggle snap-to cover system that guaranteed a portion of your player model being exposed when regular crouching or prone does a better job. Any semi-competent rifleman could pixelsnipe a player in cover. RO:OST didn't even have a cover system. All you had to do was crouch behind terrain and you had gun stabilization. RS2 is much more similar to that than RO2 ever was.

Close quarters combat. When you fold the stock, your view isn't as obstructed as it is with the normal iron sights and it's easier to watch several entrances like doors or windows at once. Plus, you still get a tighter spread than you would firing from the hip. Your weapon is also shorter, so you can hug walls easier without your gun getting in the way.

It's pretty situational, but I still find it more useful than a bayonet. Whenever I charge into a building or jump onto a trench, I always fold my stock if I can.

With a little effort you could set up a virtual audio cable to play music for the occupants of the vehicle. Not as cool as actually playing it through loudspeakers for anyone nearby to hear though.
