So let's all agree that the factions are shit. Just like the dialogue. The idea is pretty good but the conception of it is pure shit (storywise). The game itself (gameplaywise) isn't very bad apart from unrealistic gunplay etc.

Fo4's main quest manages to be worse than Fo3's, because instead of being railroaded into one option you're railroaded into one option for half the game then have to somehow pick out of four factions.

As a result:

- the first half of the game has to get the player to join all four, which makes the factions less interesting as the player is literally walking around all their bases all the time at their leisure
- three factions have to be more or less fucked over/fucked with during the midgame which raises a lot of narrative issues (example: CIT allowing the player to freely be in charge even though he sides with the RR at Ticonderoga)
- three factions have to be thrown out for the endgame, making all progress with them worthless
- all cities/locations thrown out to make way for custom settlements, which is the worst because the RTS mod let you put settlements everywhere not preset locations

Also the game's original theme (good vs bad uses of nuclear power) is totally drowned out except for the initial intro and very last endgame sequences.

If we look at the Vikings, who the Nords were partially based off of for instances, or Samurai, they might have female warriors strictly in a defense capacity, but would not take them out in war parties. Modern society has eliminated a lot of the infant mortality and dangers faced by older societies, along with replacing a lot of the physical labor with machinery, which is why women have began reaching parity with men in status and jobs.

What Roy Phillips did to Daring Dashwood was unforgivable. I went into Ghoul Extermination mode after the Tenpenny Tower incident. The Commonwealth and it's politics was extremely disappointing.

I was expecting/hoping it to be a vast decayed metropolis with robots and literal railroads stretching out like a web, most of it an urban battefield between creepy synthetics and advanced Institute mechs. The Institute itself was going to be a massive tower in the center which constantly ominously loomed over you. Something like the Terminator, really moody with a thick atmosphere, but was distinct from the others.
