Nah. You gain experience by creating badges. You create badges by crafting cards. Cards can be collected by playing a game or trading.
Occasionally, during events like sales, you can gain exp and/or cards in easier ways.

I wish achievements were useful for something but they aren't. Because it's very easy to cheat with achievements.

and this is why steam will always be so huge: people LOVE paying for card to make stickers to put on their profile. the more stickers you have the more profile customization slots you get and the rabbit hole goes deeper and deeper.

very small number of games has cards valued that high.
Most cards are 0.05 to 0.03 $.
If you sell them you get value -0.01 for developer -0.01 for Valve so you end up with 0.03 to 0.01$.
Its shit either way.
