I posted this on the old thread but got no answers so might as well post it here too.

My switch can't connect to my router for some reason while every other device I have has no problems. Got it at launch and I've successfully got it to connect 2 times and it seemed completely random when it did finally connect.

Anybody else have this issue and know whats up? I'd really like to try out ARMS.

I play on the portable mode with the joycons attached because I cant get used to punch tossing with my arms

Ribbon Girl tips

>If opponent is being aggressive try to double jump over his punches then dive in front of him to attack him, this is even better if you have a Sparky Arm equipped because it will be charged after diving which will allow you to stun and either grab them or unleash rush if you have it charged without fear of opponent dodging or blocking it.

Power cycle it like the other guys told you. Also check to see if your router has a device cap for symmetrical usage. Many of them do and don't list it. You might need to turn a device off completely or disconnect it from the router to let the Switch connect.

Do you have any info on how it works? Do we get to select a map or is it randomly chosen? I also heard we will only get to use the 3 starter ARM sets, is that true? I'm kinda annoyed of Party Mode already because of being forced to play meme ball and FFA. Tag Team is fine if its on DNA Lab map. - Still can't decide who I like most after 3 hours. But it will most likely not be Ninjara or Mechanica. It's hard to say because ARMS are exclusive to certain characters in the testpunch, but you will have freedom to use any of them in the full game.
- No favorite yet
- Mechanica is least favorite but I don't dislike her
- Favorite arm is the shield, love the protection and throwing people off by attacking with it
- Least favorite arm is any boomerang types that curve, it's a bit overwhelming for me right now

This. I was sweeping my entire lobby as Min Min by using paralysis + grab and abusing her defensive dash jumps to get around opponents. My lobby quickly caught on by timing their punches for when I hit the ground.

Paralysis + grab needs a slight nerf though. I don't think it's as broken as some people claim, but it's way too easy to chain due to grabs charging your arms. Charging your arms in general seems off due to them charging within a second of having your guard up.

In Pacific Rim, the pilots of the giant mechs controlled them by splitting the work between two people. One pilot controlled the left side and the other controlled the right side.

Playing ARMS like Pacific Rim works about the same. You control one Joy Con, your partner controls the other. Punching is easy, but movement and grabs is when you really have to use communication.

Are you using an old card reader with a newer SD card? The usb reader I had for years couldn't read a 128GB microSDXC card I got for 3DS, but the 3DS and my phone were able to read it. I had to get a different adapter.

The main thing I was worried about was being hamstrung by not being able to move and and punch and how bad not being able to control individual arcs would fuck me, and the answers are "you're not" and "not really". I didn't notice anything I could do with the motion controls I couldn't do with a pro controller/two joycons, and the trade-off for not being able to control your individual punch arcs is a way more comfortable experience, especially where character movement is involved.

Motion controls offer the most precision and you can do some more advanced stuff with the curving.
Split Joy-Con play is even usable as well other than the brain-dead decision to map "changing target" to the fucking ZL/ZR button that's resting against your thumb instead of the literally unused SL button.

Nah. Punch buttons are A and B, shoulders activate your rush combo. Y dashes, X jumps, and L3 blocks, and in multi-man matches, up on the d-pad changes targets.

It's not what you'd expect, but it plays well once you get used to stick guarding. Not sure if the final game will have control remapping.

Does anyone perfectly understand Spring Man's gimmick? I mean the counter when he dashes, not his 25% health buff.
So when he's charged and dashes, it will deflect an attack right as you dash? The in-game info says "as soon as it wears off" as if it's something that's basically chance based.

Patience. The systems at work in this game, while basically familiar (punch, block, grab, etc.), are executed and applied in some incredibly unorthodox ways. Lots of people said they were having a bad time until it clicked.

With the Switch finally charging for online, disregarding how depressing that is. It'll finally be an (console) industry wide standard. Meaning there is no escaping it unless you want to completely give up on console games (yes I have a great PC) completely.

And with that. My boycott is over. I'll still never buy a PS4 (that isn't second hand anyway). Chances are I'll get a PS5, and by then I might as well link my bank account to Sony's like a good little drone and annually pay them for my online play. Super fun but not sure if I'm ready to drop 80 Canuck Shillings on it, 50 or 60 would be a definite buy, but as is I might have to wait a bit till after launch to see how the playerbase holds up / how people feel about it's longetivity.

With Splatoon you're basically garunteed an active multiplayer experience due to how successful the first game was, so 80 bucks doesnt seem so bad, but this seems like a bit too much of a gamble at this point.

It was basically an industry standard already, the major AAA gaming scene basically completely overlooks Nintendo and it's kind of an outlier from a gaming experience in general.

Paid online is pretty awful, but the price doesnt sound like its going to be too bad, at around $20-$30 vs. PS4's $50. I only hope it will reflect an actual improvement in the quality of their servers since I've had underwhelming online experiences on past nintendo systems.

I think Master Mummy, Mechanica, and (possibly) Barq & Byte are going to suffer the fate of all heavyweights in fighting games and be relatively low.

Ribbon Girl, Kid Cobra, and probably Ninjara and Min Min will be high.

I see Helix being some kind of middle ground who, in the hands of someone who can work his gimmick perfectly, will be unbeatable.
