Video games is usually based on movies, so it is hard to make a good movie adaptation of vidya which was inspired by a movie.

Postal's probably the best. His other game films are pretty fucking atrocious but Alone in the Dark had three or four music videos attached, so that was neat. BloodRayne was fucking hilariously bad. The first RE is okay but pretty tangential. The Halo Animatrix-esque stuff ranges from shit to pretty fun. DOOM's bad but whatever. Prince of Persia is inoffensive but not very fun. MK and SF are bad but had some decent scenes. I feel like i'm missing a few movies but i'm not sure what.

I found some of the characters acted weird in that movie but it might just be because I interpreted them differently in the games compared to how the writers of the movie did.

In all honesty i prefer the non-Hell story because I feel like it wouldn't translate well the other way.

There's still a spiritual aspect to the virus that could easily be inserted in a sequel.

CGI spirits and ghosts floating around breaks any immersion for me and ages like shit to boot. As is the film minimized their use of it which I'm thankful for.

Already been posted but the only one I would consider genuinely good is Silent Hill. What is it that's so hard about adapting vidya to movies? I know with books a lot of the challenge comes from properly expositioning in a timely matter because most people don't want to watch a 5 hour movie. Its totally forgettable, like anythung Uwe gets his mitts on apart from Postal. The only reason Postal has any merit is because both he and the devs had good rapport and its a movie made to be bad. It has an awful lot of charm in a cheap comedy film sort of way. Its hardly a good, artistic film. Its just fun, bullshit and being awful is simply a part of the universe.
